excuse the S5 pic, its not the best, looks really nice and finally tied in the black roof, next up is to get my Aplina roadster S spoiler painted and fitted :) :)

think I'm going to order the eisennman sport (quiet) mufflers but in the oval setup.... never been a fan of the quad in general really and fancy being different. Not feeling the 1500 quid price tag which seems insane imo.... so ill sit on it i think during winter, and aim to search the forums for a used setup. if worst comes to worst ill order the eisennmans.

Looks really good and very current

thanks buddy, i fitted them along the crease so the aero sill is still prominent. It took the guys alittle effort with the shape of the aero sill but it looks really modern and fresh on the car, plenty of thumbs up on my 4 hour round trip...

also experienced some drizzle can't even call it rain ,the semi slicks and they were shocking... the floor wasn't even, barely damp to the touch, and i was able to light the TC in 4th.

Well chaps I've now done Curborough in the Saxo and it's a great little course. I hated it in the morning as it was raining and the very worn AD08s made it like driving on ice, but the sun came out in the afternoon and I got 1st in class. If there are any future track day type events for Z4s there let me know.

Video is here (note no Z4 content): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hC-eGaTVs94&list=UUYPT3kRLn8oZoRNFLKjW-hQ

Carl it's such a good Venue...

What was your time???

A very deceivingly fast circuit that requires genuine skill.

Great times wish I would have known you were racing as I'd loved to have passed thru to say hi.

Well I'm currently weighing up a few options for next year: 1) do some work on the Saxo and bump it up to Roadgoing rather than Production, 2) buy an RX-8 and run that in Production, 3) use the Z4...

I think option 2 may be more competitive than option 3, but option 2 will involve selling the Z4 as I can't justify running two cars at £500/year road tax. Option 3 makes me wonder how competitive the Z4 will be against the two 911 GT3s in its class, but they've both been beaten by someone in a standard Cayman R this year. I might have to start another thread on track prep.

do you have an ///M or 3.0?? either way the z4 can be very competitive imo. Was surprised how well i did this year on a set of uber cheap nankang budget semi slicks ( they did hold me back still). with my son hitting 4, and now in a booster seat i fully intend next year to be at many more events, i will also be stumping up for a serious set of tyres too, next year i want to set a scorcher of a bench mark.

This is the ///M sub-forum, so yes I have an ///M :)

Currently running on non-R Yoko AD08 as we'd run them on the Saxo and they were good in all weathers. Not sure I'd want to go as far as R888s. Was thinking yesterday about swapping out the seats for competition ones, but I really want to keep it as an everyday road car. So I'd want to limit any changes to geometry, uprated pads/discs, strut braces, etc. Would probably need to find someone (*not* a BMW dealer) to look after it too.

many non ///M guys post here , its not illegal   hence my question.....

think you've answered your own question, using your ///M isn't going to be ideal for you, id stick with the sax, after seeing just how fast they can be i was blown away.. They can be incredibly fast and at least if you bend it, its not a major issue and parts are cheaply replaced.

Yeah but no but... on the one hand my dad rolled our previous Saxo at Honington. Wouldn't want to do that in the Z4. On the other hand I've come first in class in various championships for the last 3 years so was thinking of moving on to a new challenge.

Their was a rotrex supercharged stripped and caged saxo and honestly.... it was making the big bois look stupid. Caterham times. I wouldn't see which way it went on a narrow twisty lane. I love me a scalding hot hatch. :-)

FWD is certainly easier than RWD. I did a couple of years in an MR2 and the season ended in the gravel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMSq5INDAug

ok i though id better bump this up as I'm about to pay up for this seasons competition... This year their is a great prize on offer which is a weekend away in a caterham all paid for :-) YESSSSSSS.....

So last year i was pretty much top of my class all season, despite being held back on my budget road trim nankang semi slicks i still managed a sub 1.30 ( what we class in the seriously fast territory) , i only had a few real attempts at bettering my time each session as i was so close to the limit of my ability i felt uncomfortable pushing any further ( most of the session tends to be spend having fun and not going 10/10s), now, I'm going to run the next 2 session as the car is with a different alignment / shock setup and see what i can get out of the current semi slicks, Then I'm going to buy some much better tyres like the mich cups / trofeo R and see how much i can shave off the time. On the current setup with a brave pill swallowed i reckon a 1.27.5 is their, with a better tyre a high 1.25... considering my car is in full road trim, all the creature comforts if i hit those times, i would be absolutely blown. I was alittle dissappointed to see the car that knocked me off the top sport has a cage and no interior But.... alls fair in love and war my car isn't exactly stock is it. One thing i was so so so impressed with was the budget semi slick, their performance for the cost (450 bags without fitting) YES you read that right is literally crazy. Ultimately for my power output and weight they are struggling, not to mention i was shipped the wrong compound ( sent the road set as opposed the TRACK set) stupidly i didn't check or even think to check. This is further limiting me, but i am so happy this new world of semi slick budgets are available. Anyway, the season has just began and heres the latest times again, i was shocked to see a new megane Trophy R rock up and WOW these things are ready to race, its a incredible machine, Bare in mind his car was brand new and it was cold, but i think this car is MORE than capable of the 1.30 or lower.

So to recap, i want a 1,26 the car can do it easily, its me thats running out of talent, here was the latest update from jan 2015, my z4m was not in attendance , but will be out when spring arrives :-)

.......................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

A rather cold start to the year at Curborough, with times about 5-6 seconds off normal pace. Ben's Meganne R26R will be one to watch when summer rolls around, and I'm sure a sub 1'30 is very possible in what is a very capable driver/car combination. It was also good to see a couple of hot rods attend one of our events for the first time, braving the conditions without either a roof, or a heater!

There'll be a full write-up shortly over on the motorpunk site (http://www.motorpunk.co.uk) so keep an eye out for that.

Our next date will take place on the 19th of February, and hopefully will be slightly warmer than January! This date is nearly fully booked already, so please contact us ASAP if you'd like to come, and we'll sort out deposits etc.
