What would you move on to Beedub? :D

I can't help think i'd want an F430.

i want something enjoyable on the road and a weapon on the track, id go for something alittle more track focused without me having to spend money to do so....

id love a new lotus exige CUP, a new 911 GT3, or a caterham 620 supercharged ( extreme option that would see least use), all of those are currently out of my reach or would cause a change in lifestyle to own, I'm hoping business picks up over the next 12 months, i won't pretend its no hardship owning my z4m, and to get it where is it today has been a long ass road, it will be a hard car to replace and I've loved every min of having it.

these guys did another session yesterday which i sadly couldn't attend due to work commitments...

however heres the update that was sent to me.

Hi all,

A rather quiet one on thursday, but in my opinion it was still one of the best events yet. The atmosphere around the place was brilliant, and although we had a few issues on the day, everyone jumped in to help - which was great to see! We were also honoured to have a very successful ex lemans car come down and join us for a few hours. The lola T380 that finished third at le mans in 1976 came down to test before it goes off to France for the le mans classic this weekend. It was the ex Alan De Cadenet car, and was running a cosworth DFV engine which sounded absolutely fantastic.

Again we had a varied mix which included everything from a KTM Xbow, to a Porsche Boxster. We also had a lovely E30 BMW which sadly had wheel bolt issues, but I'm happy to report Rob got home ok (sadly via the AA!!) after what must have been a long journey back to Lancaster!

There's two dates in July. These are the 17th and the 31st.

Anyway, to the times!

Specialist production

Steve Lawfield brought the rather interesting KTM Xbow down, and managed to set fastest time of the day. Spending an hour or two working out gearing and lines under the tuition of Sprintandtrackday regular Nigel Pugh. In the afternoon the laptimes were becoming consistently quicker and the Audi powered car ended the day with a 1'26.1, just shy of the atom which was his target. Maybe next time! Second and third (a shared drive) in class were the two drivers in the lovely little caterham roadsports. Although down on power, Scott certainly was very determined, and after a few (quite a few!) spins, he set a 1'33.9. Neil, who was slightly more caution in his friends car, set a respectable 1'36.2

Road going/track based sports and saloon cars

Only one entry in this class, and that was Robert Mcleod in his wonderful E30 BMW complete with E36 328 power. Robert was very keen throughout the day, and I know his car was the highlight of many, including the Lola mechanics! The car, which looked a bit of handful, was tamed very well indeed, and eventually set a time of 1'33.7 which puts him third overall in class.

British Sports car class

The invasion of TVRs continued with another 3 cars this week. Howard Barnard in his very fast TVR Griffith 4.5 was quickest, and would have gone even quicker if he could remember where he was going! He still set a 1'28.2 and there is a lot of time left to come in that car, so it'll be interesting when it returns with the 'better' tyres on! Second in class was the lovely TVR T350 of Aubrey round. His main aim was to beat Steve Gullick in his tamora which he eventually succeeded in doing by two tenths of a second! Aubrey only lives a few doors down from Steve so he definitely wins 'battle of the street' for now! He set a 1'31.8 and reckons there's more time in that. Third in class was my personal driver of the day Jeremy Pole in his TVR S3. After a tentative start, the laptimes came tumbling down all day long, eventually leaving him with a 1'35.1. I believe the car is still on its original shocks! New shocks and springs before next event I believe!

Over two litre class

Only one entry in this class, and this was the Porsche Boxster of Owen. Again, improvements were made all throughout the day, and he ended up with a 1'38.0 which places him 9th in a very competitive class.

They send out circulars like that after each event? That's brilliant!

As my source of used 15" slicks appears to be drying up I am considering the Nankangs as an alternative on my Puma track car,,medium compound,,for the money you'd recommend...????

i can definitely recommend them but the road compound isn't in the league o f the 888s/cups etc.... i would guess the track compound will make a substantial difference, the grip level from the two different tyres was massive, brat tyres and the road compound has far more grip than a high end road tyre like PSS for example. Gone are my days of buying branded rubber...

Other things to note, they are really noisy but lasted very well after a day of hard use, grip levels seem to remain pretty consistent, overall for a dual use the road compound is awesome.

I can find them in hard and medium compounds,,,I'm assuming the medium is what you refer to as track,,,the Puma is purely a track car so the softer the better I suppose. :D :D

their is only soft and medium.

it was his tow car, his tVr tuscan had steering rack fail in spectacular fashion, made a real mess of an immaculate car, if you've paid.... may as well drive and try salvage some fun i guess.... id have done exactly the same.

Thanks for explaining what looked to be a curious situation. I would also have done the same, provided that I could see through my tears :(

Ok guys back at the circuit today , down to 1.28.4 with class lead . Same tyres , nothing changed , now just messing around but will try again later when it cools down , it's way way to hot

And this bad boi is here today ! The real deal too !! 300ks worth !! Incredible

day over, absolutely shattered....

ran out of fuel in the end so had to retire, it got so warm, pleased to report apart from a minor 2 wheels on the grass the car is all in one piece, and realy was on the money today considering the punishing temps, the supercharger unit literally that how i used it to warm my lunch ( no joke) , after i took the class lead, i stopped trying to beat the clock and just enjoyed the day , fantastic day.

some awesome machines today, a viper SRT v10 managed to bag a 1.32 which for such a large machine was pretty incredible , we had an actual clip cup car their today to and the lancia.... wow..... made my year to see that.

heres the session rounded up in words by the organiser!!

What a day! Probably the hottest Curborough we've had yet, both weather wise and competition wise! The Course record was reset by Michael Andrews' 1100 Force HC hillclimb car, and he managed to carve an impressive 5.1 seconds off the existing record. We were also once again joined by XTEC who showed off the sensational Lancia Group C car. The Ferrari derived V8 was running twin turbochargers and simply ate up the tarmac in front of it. After speaking to Paul, the car was hitting 140MPH over the finish line - he only started accelerating at the marshals post!! Hopefully we'll be seeing some more cars from them over the coming months, and I highly suspect we will. Other notable entries were Steven Crabtree in his wonderful Alfa GT Junior, and Rich in his Dodge SRT10.

Second fastest time of the today (Behind the record holding force) was the very nimble Lotus Elise S1 track car. Although no stranger to sprinting, Stephen set a 1'23.6, leaving him second overall in the British sports car class, humbling some of the big power TVRs no doubt. Third Overall was Byron Walker, who takes the lead of the over two litre class with a 1'28.4, but maybe more importantly, managed to beat third place man Nigel Pugh by 6 tenths of a second. Nige is now second in two classes, with his 911 taking his place behind the GTR in the supercar class.
Ashley Brown was again fastest in the 1600-2 litre class with a 1'29.4, followed closely by Mark Hammersley in his 182 racing car. Mark races in the KTEC 182 series, and was initially down just to bed some brakes and tyres in. Naturally though, when the stopwatch came out he had to join in, and set a very respectable 1'30.0.

Driver of the day was someone who didn't stay very long, and also came all the way from Ireland to visit us! Will came along in the morning and was driving his mate Aaron's Imprezas. After his first lap was a 1'29.0, we all suspected that maybe he had some experience in Ireland when it comes to motorsport. After being drilled, his answer was 'I've had a bit of experience, I instruct in Imprezas back in Ireland, and I do some auto testing, rallying etc etc' !

Enough waffling anyway, the times are below! But just before that, the next date with available places is August 22nd!

Good you beat the 911, but bugger me those TVRs are fast!!
Definitely , some of them are proper race cars however , even the lightest state of tune one is well prepared , once I get my proper tyres on ill be aiming for a 1.25, I'd be happy with that , but where my car has much more to give I'm pretty much out of bottle at the moment , to extract even the time I have done would mean certain serious car damage if you would come off with the very little run off , I'm sticking within my limits at the moment, I do have the odd mad moment however !!

But chasing times is an addictive game and also where accidents happen. I have the class lead so now I need to work on my braking and carrying more consistent speed around the corners , not bad at all for a second visit to the new layout [emoji2]

I am pleased to report the engine / supercharger / cooling was faultless during a whole days 27 degree c temps and I slowly wafted home in air conditioned comfort , priceless.

it's taken me 3 days to get it cleaned up again however [emoji43][emoji44]
