It was a lovely car basically a racing car with a later engine transplant, permanent hard top with big wings and diffusers , it made that time look effortless and could carry speed in a way my lardy car could only dream about , that car could be as quick as the Caterham if he tries and man can drive it was full of stickers from competing . I'd expect the weight saving to be more useful on a sprint course - can't imagine the speeds are high enough for aero to make a big difference. Happy to be proved wrong - do you run a data logger? It would be interesting to see your VMax and VMins.
