How cheap?

It's done under 10,000 miles, and is from a trader... how much more can they drop? The new year is going to be pretty bad for some traders with these high cost cars. I rekon they will sell them as there are buyers, but those buying want a bargain too! It's like a feedback loop, the less a few put them up for, the less people want to pay because they think they are loosing money and don't want to buy!

Crazy price - its a poor spec but brilliant car for that money. Almost too cheap? But everything is ridiculous right now though, you can pick up a one month old M3 for £15k off list, and early 57 plate cars going for £33k-£37k...So everything else must fall in line. Thing is if you do want to sell, as long as you are buying something with equally low demand you should be quids in (as your replacement has lost even more than your Z).

it only sucks if you need to sell outright or are downgrading

Well, my current car is worth £2500 tops I think, so I've not really lost much at all in the big picture when you look at these Z4 M's... I'm in a relatively good position to just buy a new car as it's almost the same as starting from nothing.

I feel I'm being punished, I'm surrounded by all the bargain M roadsters and coupe's (maybe someone is trying to tell me something ;) ), and no early 3.0's

If it carries on like this I'll be getting an M model in the new year ;)

If it's too good to be true, then it usually is.Then again in this economic climate you never know. :o

I was over at the e90/e92 M3 forum. There are some really good deals right now(in the last several weeks). The brand new 2008 M3's MSRP price was reduced by several thousand dollars. On top of that, the customer get a further 6 to 9% reduction off the already reduced MSRP, plus...get this... 0.5% financing on all the remaining brand new M3 in inventory. The e93's (cabriolet) offer the best deals because of the higher markup (compared to the coupe and sedan). No wonder the pre-owned/used cars are priced so low. One guy from Toronto ordered a brand new M3 4 door sedan in melbourne red. His dealer found one on the computer. The car was on the West Coast, it had to be shipped across the country to his dealer. Needless to say he was REALLY happy. :headbang: What a great time to buy a BMW! :D

you got me looking now. £48k for a nice spec 08 M3 Cabby.

There has been an '08 M Coupe in my local dealers for a few months now. Still hasn't sold! Started at £32,000 and is now £27,850.

Someone on the M forums recently picked up an 08 plate Coupe with DCT, EDC, 19s and all the most have options for £37k...(or so he says!). Thats something else. Thats a £56k car when new (in July). Convertibles cost more but even so, a top spec example was pushing mid £60ks new? Even in a decent financial climate thats an awful lot of money for a 3 Series...don't like the convertible though personally

The thing is, unless it's been in a crash, the warranty should cover any issues for at least another year and a bit.

As long as the bodywork isn't battered and it has FBMWSH up to now, then surely it's probably gonna be ok? I do wonder why it wasn't traded in at BMW though... maybe they were offering the seller £15,000 or something and this trader took a bit more for it?
Reposession that went through the auctions maybe? So it might not have the service book etc? But surely with the reg number and ringing BMW you could make sure it still had the first service and get a new book sent out?!

I rekon you'd knock another £750-£1000 off in another month if it still hasn't sold :)

If it hasn't had the running in service the warranty might be limited. That would explain the price.

Personally I would consider a trade in at a BMW dealer an absolute last resort, only marginally preferable to driving it off a cliff and claiming on the insurance....they always seem to want a margin of at least 20%

They are that bad.

Well, if I like this SMG one my bosses wife has, and they get a quote for trade in at BMW, I should be quids in on a good deal then :D ;)
