Z4M or 3.0 si?

The 350z is very similar to the 3.0l performance wise...not interior wise though! :D
If you are stepping out of a gti then u will notice a massive difference with the 3.0l, you will love it!

350Zs have 280BHP-300BHP depending on the year. The 3.0 has 231BHP, 3.0sI 265bhp IIRC? And weights are broadly similar. I've drive the 280 model and it feels quick, but personally I would say the 350Z slots between the 3.0 and the M. Going from a GTI though the 3.0 in 231BHP guise will feel great; slightly quicker but best of all sounds a million dollars better...very little can beat a straight 6 BMW engine unless it has at least 8 cylinders...

:)

Caddy, you hit it right on the nose

If money is an issue, get the 3.0 over the M. Plain and simple.

I wish I went for the M, or even a Porsche, but I'm pretty happy with my little girl and now... wouldn't trade her for any other. :driving:

I dont think the 350z beats the Z4 Si coupe in terms of performance. The 350z was another of my choices but it felt heavy and it weighs about 500lbs over the Si coupe. Plus the Z4 coupe I feel are underrated in terms of HP. I feel it ranks this way slowest to fastest: 3.0 Z4-350Z-Z4SI-Z4M. No way a 350Z would outperform a Si coupe. They may make more hp but there heavy pigs :D

OK, ive decided to go for the 3.0si coupe.

Theres a 57 plate with 3k miles on it in nottingham for £28750. Im going to approach a local dealer this week to see if they can get the car up from nottingham (i dont want to travel there) if i agree to buy it. They have a car near me i can test drive but its the wrong colour. So guys - what should i be paying for this car? Its got sat nav, red leather, 108's on it. I dont think an 8month old coupe is worth 29k though?

More like £26-27k? What price should i go for? Im not paying silly money only to have it depreciate like a rock.

Ideas?

One of the members on zed-cars has just bought this for £30,000:

On the basis of that the car you're looking at isn't good value.

Blimey - an 07 plate m for 30k? Well this 3.0si coupe should be costing me like 26k max then eh? Its just bmw delaers are reknown for being stingy with discounts - i doubt they will reduce the price by £3k! Presumably i shouldnt buy it unless i can get this discount else ill be in trouble come next car change?!

Looks about the right price range around here also!

I know there are lots for sale at 29k but it doesnt seem to me to be a very good price - not when you can get an 07 plate M for 1k more! Im thinking i should run them for 26k - what does anyone else think?

There is a Coupe M 2007 plate for sale at another dealer not far from me with 3,000 on the clock for around £33,000.

Fact of life though that the higher output, top of the range of any model looses the most on resale!

I bought my Coupe 3.0si that's 7 months old for £10,500 off new price!!

So should i be looking at 25k for this car then from what youve said? Its 8 months old.... anyone any ideas?
TBH I don't think you will get a dealer down to that price! If you do, well done! Don't forget a dealer may have a harder time selling an M version because of the preceived extra running costs. The 3.0L SI I bought is in the same road tax bracket as my JCW MINI was and the fuel consumtion is working out about the same also! The M version is in the next tax bracket up and the fuel consumption is worse, although only marginally I guess! and the insurance is higher.

I'd say pay what YOU feel the car is worth, by the looks of it you have an idea after looking around at what they are fetching.

Hey, do I spot another old MINI2 member here?

It depends on the dealer. When I was shopping I found a Z4M for £38k which the dealer would not move more than £300 on. I found an identical car at £35k the dealer was happy to knock £3k off over the phone....the £38k car had parking sensors and was 3 months newer, that was it. I didn't buy either LOL but you get the gist, i.e It all depends on how long its been in stock, what it owes them, etc. I highly doubt he will drop £3k on a 3.0 but if you have comparables from the AUC network to justify the price and offer a deposit on the spot for a deal, it may work.

Are you paying cash or finance? I was also looking at a 3.0 initially and found the residuals were considerably weaker, thus making it alot more expensive per month than an M. Strange but true.
