Thanks for your kind words. I am really gutted, I loved my Z4M. I have had a few of these Coupes and this one in how it was set up was brilliant. It was a keeper for sure.
The car went into a Bodyshop for a replacement front dented wing, and I managed to squeeze a new bumper onto the bill as insurance were paying…I thought why not.
7 months later and still no bumper from BMW due to production issues. I called the car back with the old bumper back on and intended to wait for the replacement whenever that may be.
Sadly, the first turn of the key at the Bodyshop the dreaded knocking occurred and then stopped. Not having heard this rattle before and thinking maybe it was a mount or something I carried on home.
A few hundred miles later I had no choice but to turn the engine off.
4 years and 20k miles ago when I bought the car it came with some old Bearing shells and in the file an invoice for the remedial work having been carried out at a garage I had heard of. I didn’t think to double check if the work had actually been done.
So either the work wasn’t done back in 2018, or what I believe is that over the course of 7 months the Bodyshop abused my car getting it in and out of the workshop each day. Cold starts and reving the engine.
There was some other strange going on such as painting the rear bumper without my consent and the mileage one mile less than when it arrived a month after I dropped it off. A puncher had also occurred too.
It’s been an ongoing battle with the insurance company and the Bodyshop.
In short, the buy back is too high and the payout too low.
I have been looking around at engines and deliberating hard about my next move..something about buying a second hand engine doesn’t excite me.
Today I was about to buy another Coupe and switch the parts over but that deal hasn’t worked out..
So I think a V8 M3 is next….
