sounds like a must, where did you buy the mounts and how much, is the fit a fairly easy diy ? thanks

See: http://www.vibra-technics.co.uk/bmw/z4/528/BMW360M/front_engine_mount_

I'm very tempted to fit these. Just to confirm the Vibra Tech mounts are actually engine mounts, not gearbox mounts?

And are there one or two of them?

engine mounts and their are 2 of them.... you can choose between Fast road or competition units...... VT will steer you away from the comp units...

They are definitely engine mounts and you require a pair (2) and they will cost you £247.20 inc postage and VAT. With your use and all your other mods you MUST fit them.

Seeing as im not exactly lewis hamilton yet its prob not worth me buying any just yet as i ll prob not really notice it....

but

how many years/miles would you say the OE mounts last when driven normally in a stock car?

when it comes close to their perishing time i ll look to upgrade

The other week we finished an exercise and were on our way back on the bus and stopped at services on ascot weekend, wearing full combat uniform, there were literally soooo many woman dressed up with tits hanging out of tight dresses, nd ppl taking photos of them

if it wasnt for the fact none of us had showered in at least 3 days im pretty sure some woman would have been getting it one way or the other that morning :o

lets do it

I finally got round to changing the gearbox oil today. I've used Amsoil MTF (2 quarts). I've just come back from a test drive and it has certainly made a difference to the feel and slickness of the gear shifting, so was worth doing. :D The shifting doesn't feel as heavy and even 1 <-> 2 shifts felt easier too. Fingers crossed that I never again suffer any gear-shift denials.

Great news John..

I use it on all my cars and it made a positive difference on the M..

Did you buy from Opie ?

Thanks!

Yes, bought from Opie. If it does the trick then it's a very cheap solution. It was easy enough to do with a bit of imagination as to how to refill. :scratchhead:

Yea....

I empty into a wider container and use a small hand pump.... Im lucky to have to hand a few useful tools..

Use a length of tube with a funnel attached to the end and thread it down from the engine bay to the fill hole. Easiest way to do the gbox oil. They fill until it starts coming out.

That's basically what I did. I filled a plastic bottle from another make of gear oil I had around, which had a flexible tube ending on the screw top and then fitted a one metre length of clear plastic tubing onto that, and poured from above like a medical drip. I then lay under the car and clamped the tube with some mole grips when it started to overflow and put the plug back into the gearbox.

This is another mod I want to do to mine once my money tree has recovered... :D

Just wanted to ask if the vibra tech engine mounts have an effect on the NVH into the cabin?

Cheers,
Mike

There is the very slightest increase when parked at idle, but otherwise, none at all.

Smashing - exactly what I needed to know - thanks exdos...!!

UPDATE

I started this thread 12 months ago but I wasn't sure that I'd resolved the problem by fitting VibraTechnic engine mounts and using Amsoil gearbox oil. However, after spending another 2 days around The Ring, I'm satisfied that this has been the solution to the problem so I'd recommend this to anyone experiencing the same problem I'd had. The shifting now feels so much smoother too, as though the gearbox has been "broken in". The lack of engine movement on the VibraTechnic mounts also improved the handling of the car so it's been a win-win, For me this has been the best mod I've done to the car.

Great to hear, so envious of your trip.

Btw, you going to update the other thread on your undercar aerodynamics on the ring
