Morning all, I'm looking for suggestions for performance upgrades... I don't want to go mad but wanted some idea's on air filters, tuning, exhausts etc.

Thanks all :driving:

Welcome along Tony, there are some real tech guys on here with a types of performance upgrades, from suspension to supercharging, I'm sure they will be along soon with some advice

Have you got any pics of your ///M :driving:

i guess the question really is... what areas would you like to improve, out the box i think these are pretty awesome cars with a good tyre choice, i loved my car bone stock with a performance geo setup, that setup served me well for a good few years. i say learn and enjoy the car and work out what you want to improve and more importantly why.

I've had mine 5 days.....

I am interested in CSL wheels. Where to get, and tyre choice.

Also GEO set up....

It's great out the box tbh...

Go for Michelin Pilot super sport! Great tyres!!

i wouldnt say csl's were a performance upgrade....
yeah they look a bit better but the ride will be slightly worse and unsprung mass etc?

they are actually lighter.... i wouldn't call them a performance upgrade tho, i swap from 18's to the CSL's with Cup sports on regularly and honestly..... on the track at least they drive exactly the same, on the road you can feel more tram lining.... Where the CSL's win is their incredible strength due to the flow form construction, they are around 1.5 lbs each wheel lighter than stock, no bad consider the greater width and size.....

no no, your summary was pretty much correct, was just pointing out their advantages, the strength close to a forged rim is a huge plus imo, i run semi slick cups on them and when you think of the extra stresses placed on the rim, its nice to know.....if you remember they were originally supplied with the cup sport, the track tyre.

I doubt I will be able to find real CSL wheels?

I need to refurb my standard wheels and also clean some bits up on the whell hub which has started to show corrosion.

They do come up for sale, but you have to be on the ball, keep checking Piston Heads as well as the auction sites, but be careful there are plenty of people who try to sell Reps as genuine.

Here you go, some great advice here

Its been done a few times, a 100 shot would be reliable and easy to implement with people like simpson and evolve on hand.

Forgive my lack of knowledge but whats a GEO set up...? :driving:

Its a wheel alignment or geometry... So setting camber, toe and caster. The standard BMW suggested Geo imo has too much toe in on both front and rear. The general consensus on the forum is to try and get to a similar setup as the M3 CSL or go one step further and run no toe at all...

Genuine CSL's weight (19"):

Front: 19 x 8, Offset = 47mm, Weight = 24 lbs.
Rear: 19 x 9.5, Offset = 27mm, Weight = 25.5

OEM Z4M (18"):

front: 24.69 lbs
rear: 25.79 lbs

Hardly 1.5lbs each. You're better off with lighter aftermarket options IMO.

hmm having weighted them myself i got slightly different results, maybe tyre variances, wider and bigger wheels still weighting in less..... not bad at all.... plus flow form construction is nice... as said.... i couldnt class them as a performance mod.
