I reckon the sort of buyer for whom a custom diff and big brakes adds value, and doesn't baulk at 99k on the odometer, isn't going to be put off by a small patch of lacquer peel.

OP, GLTWS - looks like a realistic asking price that gets a great spec for the right buyer.
 
Thanks for the positive comments guys. I share the view that the lacquer peel shouldn't really put someone off especially at this price which I think is fair.
I also appreciate the thoughts that think the opposite. Time will tell I guess.
 
What is the registration plate supposed to read?

I'm sure I'll not be the only person seeing a Scottish word for poo/something not being good. 😀

Didnt think mileage was an issue for you. If you bought a low mileage one you would spend the same money getting bits done like rod bearings at 25k :P

Do you know if the Brembos clear the OE 18”s?

Hard to tell from the photo angles but is it standard ride height?

Frustratingly its a way of trying to get it to spell my surname. You're now the second person to point that out to me....might have to re-think that plate :D

I don't know for sure on the diff, as it was before my ownership. Although the invoice states rebuild and supply of the 4:1 ratio crown wheel and pinion so I've always assumed its the original but rebuilt (new seals etc) diff.

I've not fitted/changed springs so my assumption was standard springs. Its always hard to tell as the lowering spring drop is minimal.

Not sure if the OE 18s fit over the brakes, I never tried them. I think Freakyparts state that they do on their website somewhere

In my experience of the Porsche Brembo caliper conversion, it needs a min of 10mm (I think I went for 12mm for a bit more clearance) to safely fit under 224M fronts.

The below table is a speed comparison between standard final drive and 4.1 final drive in each gear at 8,000 rpm for the E46 M3.

I'm reliably informed (thanks Tom_K!) the E46 M3 gear ratios are ever so slightly different to the Z4M ratios, but for arguments sake you should know fairly conclusively in 3rd gear if you have a shortened final drive :lol:

MPH speed at 8,000 rpm.
3.62 ratio 4.10 ratio
1st 40 36
2nd 68 60
3rd 102 90
4th 139 123
5th 171 151
6th 206 182

FWIW I consider the 4.1 to be one of the best mods I've done to my car. It makes it so much more involving on the road because you're stirring the box more, and the in-gear torque increase makes it feel a chunk peppier too. On track I find it great as well; miles better punch coming out of corners, avoids any real need for that awkward shift into 2nd, and 5th is actually a useful gear with a 4.1! :lol:

Only mentioning this because if you can confirm conclusively that you have the 4.1 it's (imo) a decent selling point for the car.

It definitely has a 4.1 ratio diff I know this for a fact as described in the advert. Atomic was asking if I knew if it was a new diff or the original diff but rebuilt, to which I cannot be 100% however the invoice would suggest its the original but rebuilt and fitted with the 4.1 ratio.

Apologies if that wasn't clear.

I also agree regarding the difference. I've driven my friends standard Z4M and mine is on a different level with regard to acceleration, it transforms the car...much more responsive and it suits the cars character much better

I'll use the search function but I'm assuming if you run spacers on the front then it's best to run them at the rear too? No issues with 10-12mm all round? I'd be unlikely to lower the ride height.

It isn't but there isn't much point getting a 98,600 mile car to replace a 95,600 miler just for a different colour combo, especially with a couple more cosmetic issues than mine.

I appreciate it has some great track oriented goodies but I don't need them on a road car. No way do I need lower gearing for UK roads, my issue getting out of corners quickly is traction not lack of grunt!

Apologies to the OP for getting a bit off-track - it's a great car that just needs to find the right owner. :thumbsup:
