Z4M Coupe for Sale

Hi James,

Ah, I see what you mean.

Unfortunately, the risk of things going wrong after purchase is there when buying any used car (from a dealer or privately).

But as I mentioned before, the warranty gives a prospective buyer peace of mind. With a full BMW warranty, you get full mechanical cover for 12 months. I believe this covers you for parts and labour too (I'll check the terms tonight).

As I see it, this would be the same recourse as you'd have if you'd bought the car from a BMW dealer.

The risk of buying private with warranty vs. a dealer with warranty is that a dealer has selected the car and prepared it but will charge a premium for doing so.

I hope that in our case as Forum members and car enthusiasts that risk is reduced somewhat.

Best of luck with your sale too!

Cheers,

Ramy

Hi guys,

That one with 6000 miles is keenly priced and I'm sure is a great car but consider the following points:

1) Convertible vs Coupe: the Coupe sells for a premium

I'm with pvr and rasoliman on the warranty. I bought mine with nearly a year of the original warranty on it. I checked the car as I always would, but had the reassurance that any minor issues could be sorted... there were a few issues and had them sorted FoC and I saved money by buying the car privately.

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments. I didn't realise this would generate this much interest!

Tjlazer, thanks for the tip. I@ll get on m3cutters and see what they've got.

James, as cool as the 123d is, I don't think I can live without an "M" car now :) I test drove an M3 a couple of weeks ago (DCT) and have to say as rapid as it was (it did feel straightline quicker), I felt a bit disconnected from the action (I also didn't get on with the gearbox - manual all the way for me).

mmm-five, i think I agree on the colour combo - all champagne might be a bit overkill. What do you mean by carbon leather? Is that the stitching?

Unfortunately, the problem with PistonHeads is that there's a limit on the size of the photos. I'll try and set up a link to a file with larger size photos tonight so that you guys can have a clearer look.

Kryton, I'm sure that people will fall into 2 camps in this forum (and in the wider community) as to coupe vs. roadster. My business partner drives a Roadster and its phenomenal (particularly on a sunny day or in a tunnel :) ) but I'll always prefer the coupe. The car just feels a little bit sharper, more planted.

With the other car for sale, I wouldn't want to comment any further as that would be unfair and that we should look at each car on its own individual merits.

I'm sure that both cars will find happy owners and that both the buyers and sellers of both cars in question will be happy with the outcome :)

All the best guys,

Ramy

The leather is not smooth, it's as if it's been woven with two strands at 90 degrees to each other, which is supposed to make it look like carbon fibre weave (hence carbon effect leather).

Hi mmm-five.

I see, gotcha. I thought that was standard. When I was looking most seemed to have it. Ah well, another additional extra :)

It is standard, but a lot of later cars (and in particularly coupes) have got individual interiors with piano black instead.

Hi James,

As pvr mentioned, the BMW Warranty is fully transferable.

Apologies, Should have made that clear.

Thanks,

Ramy

Only if you paid for it all in one go it is. If it's being done on monthly payments, it's not transferable. But I assume it's the former and not the latter.

Good luck with the sale though, an excellent colour combo IMHO.

Hi James,

Many thanks for your comments. I do love the combo! Its such a shame to sell. The more comments I get, the more I'm thinking I should hang on to it :):)

Yep, the warranty is all paid for and so fully transferable to the new owner.

I've just moved house so bit of a delay getting the link up but I'll sort it in the coming days.

I'm based in SW London now if people are interested in viewing.

Thanks guys,

Ramy

Surely the method of payment doesnt affect the ability to transfer the warranty does it? The new owner would simply pick up the payments ?

I pay for mine monthly and BMW have confirmed it is transferable.

Hi guys,

Thanks for all the comments so far.

Any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll do my best to answer, although so far, the learned members of the forum are answering them better than me!

Cheers,

Ramy

Section 5 on page 21 of the BMW Warranty Ts & Cs state that:

For annual policies only and
provided that a refund has not been
claimed, any balance of your BMW
Insured Warranty remaining may be
transferred to another private owner
who buys your vehicle from you but
not to a buyer engaged in the
business of purchasing, selling or
servicing motor vehicles.

See here:

http://www.bmw-warranty.co.uk/PDF/PolicyHandbook_BMW_Warr_UK.pdf

It then re-iterates the same on page 33. So well done if any of you have got BMW to agree to the transfer when under a monthly payment plan as under normal circumstances they won't allow it. And no, I don't see why the payment method should matter either.

Just to help you here.

My Black Z4M Coupe with Red Leather and every extra including Shat Nav, Heated Seats, folding mirrors, PDC, Logic 7, Ipod Integration, Bluetooth, CSL Wheels sold for £20.5k in the end.

I was really struggling to give it away.

Once again, let's not allow the facts to get in the way of a good story... :headbang:

Just got off the phone to BMW Insured Warranty as I have monthly warranty on my car and I did not want the perceived lack of transferability to bite me on the arse if I ever came to sell the car privately. BMW Insured Warranty are more than happy to transfer the warranty to the new owner. The way it works is that the seller tells BMW Insured Warranty that the car has been sold, BMW Insured Warranty cancels the policy, but makes a note on the file of the car, then the buyer contacts BMW Insured Warranty to tell them that he has bought the car and he would like to continue the cover and BMW Insured Warranty obliges by setting up a new policy - either a continuation of the monthly or a new annual policy. The choice is left to the new owner.

The only caveat is that the car should have less than 60,000 miles for the transfer prices to stay the same, otherwise you will be paying the higher charges...

Simple...

ahh,

i can assure you the seats will be clean when its sold :):)

For that sort of money I think you should also get the wheels refurbed and fix the other bits - torn luggage cover and missing ///M badge.

Hi guys,

Apologies for the delay in replying. Have been out of the country ( and down to Le Mans!! :) ). I saw another Z4M C in midnight blue with Champagne leather there too. A fellow member?

Unfortunately (or is that fortunately :D ), the trip that my company had organised round Europe has now been postponed till summer 2012. Therefore I won't be selling the car.

Comments are all noted and I agree, I think the minor issues like the wheel refurbishment/ torn luggage cover/M badge so that when i do come to sell, it will be an easier job!!

Guys, many many thanks for all your help with this and I look forward to remaining a member of the Z4 crew
