Z4M alloys on a 2.0?

The thing is theres plenty of people with 18's on the forums? Not like there Massive.. 18in... 255? I swear thats the same width/size as some standard wheels fitted to the 3.0's?

+49, the non-M rear tyre size is 255/35 18 and the M size is 255/40 18 which is where the difference is coming from.

Thats strange..u'd think the M would have the lower profiles...

Hmm my rear's arnt far off finished 4-5k.. guess i could wait :(

I would suggest the problem is coming from the offsets on an M being completely different from a 2.0.
I don't know what the offsets are on M wheels but if a Z3 is anything to go by the rear offset is 8 as opposed to the non M 41.
I may be wrong of course. Does anyone know the offsets on M wheels?

Yeah the offsets are wrong but they should be OK, but the wrong tyres combined with the lowered springs isn't working. I'm sure the rubbing would stop with the correct profile tyres fitted.

I hate talking offsets and profiles sizes

In simples terms does this mean that 255/35 18 standard 3.0 size tyres will be better on the M alloys than the standard continental tyre sizes found on the M....If your putting the wheels on a 3.0.

The bottom line is that the M rear wheel is a 9 inch and yours is an 8.5 inch and because of the difference in offsets(sorry to use that word) the rear wheel will protrude 26mm further out to the edge of your car.
I can't see what the issue is with the profile as they are both 18 inch wheels. In simples terms use the same tyres you have already got on your 3.0

A 40 profile is larger than a 35 profile, in this case the tyre diameter is around an inch higher than it should be, which would usually be OK, but coupled with the suspension and the offset it's too much.

I agree totally. When I said I can't see what the issue is with the profiles what I meant is why would you use anything different to your original tyres with the 35 profile.

40-35mm profile is an inch differnce? it's 5mm differnce ... hows it become an inch?

How i understand is that profile is fatness of the the tyre from the rim? So tha 35mm far the edge of the tyre is from the rim... ?

It's 5mm difference from the wheel rim to the bottom of the tyre so the circumference becomes greater by alot more

A little correction here...

non M have 255/35/18
M have 255/40/18

The middle number is NOT hight in mm; its the hight as a percentage of the width of the tyre.... which is why roughly speaking on a stock 18 staggered setup the 225/40/18 fronts will have the same rolling diameter as the 255/35/18 rears.

So going back to the M wheels the 255/40/18 will be about an inch taller then 255/35/18... which with the much bigger increase to the rolling diameter will no doubt effect your speedo. (however at 70 on the speedo my GPS says 65, so having an M setup will prob make this more accurate)

You are absolutely right and I stand corrected having now confused myself.
The rolling radius is as you say the section height percentage of the width added to the radius of the wheel.

So basically if i get 35's on the rears.. i'll give myself a inch of clearance?

No because you are putting the same size tyre on the same size wheel fitted to your 3.0 so the height will be the same.
Going back to my first post your issue would be with the width and how close the wheel is to the outer edge.

Yeah but theres 255/18 fitted standard to 3.0's.. And they don't rubb? ? does mine being a 40 profile make them wider? Mine where rubbing before i got lowering springs..but now it's worse?

There's ppl on the forums i beilve with 18/255 and lowered and have no rubbing? Just wondering why mine are if profile means nothing..
