Got call today to say that the Yaris has been sold by another colleague. Not happy to say the least.

That p!sses me off immensely :headbang: happened to me recently, no courtesy call to confirm my interest, just a call after the event to say sorry, we’ve sold it. I was intending to travel with cash the following day.

The person you were dealing with should’ve marked the car reserved or similar.

My guess is that they’ve had someone turn up, cash/finance buyer with no trade in and by giving you strong money for your own they’d be on less profit/commission. Gone for the best deal for them.

Maybe a sign to enjoy the Zed for a while longer

I must say the abarth I’m selling the guys at ford in Staines were top notch, only a small deposit, did the cambelt and waterpump change a full service, the sale took a little while to complete not from my side, on collection the salesman said between 10 and 15 people were after the car with offers above the ask but they honoured the agreement with me which I found very refreshing and 100% recommend trust ford at Staines...

If there was no deposit on the car, then ultimately surly it comes down to the first person who puts down their money?

If you did put a deposit down then that’s poor

No I never put a deposit down as he told me that it was a done deal and that the advertisement was taken down, which it was. I knew the garage owner from previous purchase. It was his own car.
Maybe it’s a sign.
Just had notice from second tenant in two weeks so think I’m gonna be busy with the houses

Yup learning a lot about people on this journey.people suck

Yep , Im old school too ,,, when I say its a deal I stick to it , no matter how it works out or what it costs me ,,
a man is only as good as his word ,, so now you know to the pound the value of the man you were dealing with..

I had someone do exactly the same to me a couple of months ago on a blue 130i ,,, but as a resuly here I am looking to be a z4 owner .. so sometimes something good can come out of it all ,,,

I can see why you are frustrated. I am normally one for saying If you have not paid a deposit then it’s not secure. That being said, if it’s verbally a done deal and you have dealt with that dealer ship previously I would be very disappointed. Ultimately if they had further interest in that car they could have at least called you to confirm you still wanted the car and asked for a deposit if they wanted some form of financial commitment.

As you say maybe it’s a sign. You still have a lovely car to enjoy 👍

To run salt into the wound I looked today at the new lotus Elise 250 cup final edition. Being the last of its kind( hoping won’t go down in value too much).to be told that all part exchanges are bought by the same guy who was selling me the GRY. They called him for bid against mine and he now is only willing to go to £8050 . Lotus said they would go to £8500. Not sure it’s worth 5 of my cars.

That really is rubbing it in. Do you think they sold the GR else where as they offered more for your Coupe than they were willing to pay in reality?

We buy any car are offering £10,500 for my abarth, cazoo £8,500 ...we buy any car offered £11,000 a couple of weeks ago... my Mrs has a relative who is a director of a few care dealerships up here in the north he has some big bmw car he gave £51,000 for it and has put miles on it and we buy any car are offering £58,000 for it now ....the market is indeed strange, we went round for drinks the other night about 15 of us all family but he has a massive barn conversion so plenty room to say the least and I asked how business was going and he said it’s been really good with used cars been taking 5-6k out of all of the sales he said it’s gone mad but expects it slowly go down but nowhere near as fast as it came up.

One thing to think about with WBAC, is they try to manipulate the market and have the buying power too. WBAC is owned by BCA the uk’s largest auction, on top of that they are due to buy out Marshalls Motor Group which is over a 100 dealerships.

They pay more for cars then claw the money back through auction fees, or they will start putting them through their own dealerships, where generally speaking in main dealers there is always much money in the car itself but they try to make it up with finance, paint protection, gap insurance etc!

I normally find this time of year WBAC prices drop off to give an example a Porsche Boxster I had was valued at £11,000 in June, October £8500 😄

New price £8995 . If it doesn’t go for this I will just keep and enjoy. Lotus exige will have to wait for another day 😂.

I would be surprised if someone does not buy it with the price reduction, good luck with the sale 👍

My abarth is for sale I’ll be on the phone if it sells unless you are looking for an abarth

Are you suggesting the seller has poor personal hygiene?
