Ah...

The old Coupe v Roady debate...

Just what the forums all about..

Wait until one of the protagonists actually buys a decent model of the chosen design, that will be another great thread..

Inside is well sound proofed ive found on bmw convertibles that ive had. So the moment the hoods down you really hear that audible change in engine and exhaust sound. Its much better in the e85 to the e46 being further back but with the roof down in general the sound of the any car is amplified which boost the experience. I just love open top driving compared to any coupes ive had its 100% a better experience. Maybe their just to ugly for a convertible so would rather hide than be exposed and have this phobia of open top driving maybe.

roadster with hardtop = best of both..

Roadster with roof down, side covers on, windows up, slightly lowered, with decent offset wheels is a wonderful sight!! very TVR brutish roadster type look, i love both, tried both when new and fell for the roadster, i did however donut an interlagos coupe in the showcase cinema that they loaned me for the day!!! :D :D :D :D :D

i have the Reg number but don't want to break any hearts lol!!!

Both cars are awesome, in ///M form i just couldnt notice the difference between the 2 so took the option more suited to weekend fun i guess.

Perhaps it's time to stop trolling for a response and let this thread die...

Maybe you should stop assuming, learn to spell and leave the personal insults out.

Oops Steve84N! It looks like you may have hit a nerve there (or is it their or maybe they're)!

But seriously, put the handbags away FFS!

I am now on E86 number2 and never wanted an E85, but I can understand why others would have the opposite preference - fine, hopefully we aren't all the same!

So please can we just move on to bashing TT/350Z/SLK/Crossfire/Boxster owners, which is surely our remit!

I can also see the appeal of a convertible as I've said before in this thread but goldbcfc insists on bringing out the personal insults. I'm simply asking that he doesn't, not bashing anyone.

Have to agree with you there - nicely put!

I'm a HGV tech not some english post graduate so I couldn't care less about spelling mistakes its a forum not an exam. No ones bashing anyone its just a opinion each time I see a coupe owner and I'm driving past with the hood down. This isn't a Z4 thing its in general it could be any convertible. It really wasn't a debate until coupe owners jumped on this thread. If I knew hand on heart I had the better model I wouldn't even be wasting my time replying back honestly the fact they are is interesting. Someone earlier mentioned roadsters are very common but yet I see Z4 coupes each day in the city or on the motorway. I may see 2 or 3 roadsters per day but I will always see coupes too but I do live in a massive city not the sticks. Any way I'll be looking forward to track day this Friday I'll try spot all these coupes having so much fun whilst my hoods down having more.......peace

Hey Byron the non M isn't a bad car you know...... A bit of work on the suspension brakes and a diff and its a great car. Not to dissimilar to the work you M guys do to your cars to make them drive right. Hear is another potential point to argue M v non M

The fact a Z4C doesn't have LSD and far les power makes it a lot different to drive compared to any M car. I wish my car had LSD for track it would have much better control in and out corners on acceleration. I've driven a few E46 M3's and their nothing like a non M car E46. May be straight line pace it will match but soon as you get above 80mph or in/out corners any M car will leave you behind. I think comparing a non M coupe to a ZM4C would be exactly the same. I know coupe owners like to big them selves up owning them but you cant compare a non M car to any M car. People tend to the same with Z4 35is compare them to Z4M's when it has no LSD. Then there's the S54 lump used which is far superior to any N52/N54 engine. Not saying their not good its just day and night compared to any M car setup.

Everyone step away from their keyboards! It's a Z4 forum (that's Coupes and Roadsters), we're on here because we like the Z4, please can we start a thread bashing SLK/Boxster/Cayman/TT etc?
this is yet another one of them stereo types people get mostly from those who haven't driven them. Mk2 TT is a pretty decent drivers car In both 2.0T and 3.2 then there's the TTrs well that's just next level id love one. I've never driven a cayman but I've driven boxsters and a couple of 911 turbos on track days and their very good. SLK never driven but cant see it being more fun than a TT or porsche

I'm sure... was just talking about what i was buying at the time not interested at all in non ///m vs ///M or coupe Vs roadsters if I'm honest think its really sad, the non ///m interest me just a much. the 3.0si is one of my fave bmw engines.

i just have a thing for a proper roadster, ya no, Healy , cobra , TVR type thing... i think its in our blood as british, the way it connects you to the driving experience is just a wonderful thing, the smells, sounds, view... their is NOTHING like threading my ///M roadster down a wide open back road sun just settling on a warm even, music going, tinge of brake pad in the air, supercharger whining away.. YES..... heaven.

i love the coupe just as much too but BOTH have angles where they can look alittle odd imo, overall both with some subtle change are one of the best designs for a very long time.

I wasn't criticising any car, only trying to encourage others to stop the Z4 infighting in a light-hearted way, I have owned or driven all of them in various guises btw.

No offense dude but if you don't like this thread why are you on here go away make your own thread. If you read the hole thread from the start the majority of people are saying exactly the same. They generally have more fun driving a convertible you will rarely find someone say its a bad driving experience in a convertible.

Sorry I should of worded it better I didn't mean you personally more people in general will stereotype these cars having not driven them. I've never understood audi TT bashing their brilliant cars I'd possibly even trade my z4 for one next.

I agree there's something nostalgic about convertibles and their heritage without no bmw 307 there would be no bmw Z generations let alone a Z4C. Even Elvis had a bmw 307 maybe because convertibles are special cars.
