You are quite right, but to be honest it's a bit tedious and boring. I've had my Coupe for just over 12 months and lost count of the times this debate has been quarrelled over even in that short time.

Perhaps the Mods should close this thread - it's lost it's way and the whole debate is a bit of a yawn.

It's not a debate it's forum banter. Coupe vs Roadster. ///M vs S. It's just banter. We're not part of a corporation, where every one has to wear a uniform and toe the line. We don't have to be PC all the time. This is, by some way, the best car forum I have ever had the good fortune to join. The first Forum run I ever went, back in 2011, a good chunk of the chat was about Craig 3.2's recently awarded can opener. Took me a few paras to work out what the heck every one was talking about. Once it clicked, it was funny then and it's still funny now. It adds to the forum and helps most of us stay sane after a day working for Big Brother. :wink:

[post]1299550[/post] that's not cool people doing that I'd of bloody chucked the scissors out at them but on a general I cant say I've every had anything but smiles when the roofs down. Mostly from women even get the occasional beep,nod of appreciation or wave. It's to bad Z4 coupe owners cant show the same love when driving past.

Don't get me wrong I also did get some positive attention too, especially in the MX5 (a Mk1 RS-Ltd with Recaros and BBS wheels), but it was annoying some of the reactions, or being hit in the face with a stone (though that was nobodies fault). Oddly I didn't seem to get any abuse in the 350Z but that thing was like an absolute tank, 1700kg car with 19" wheels, cone filter and loud cobra exhaust. :evil:

As for us Coupe owners not showing the love, I often exchange a flash/wave with a Roadster owner around where I live.

Ive had both Z coupe & Z roady as a weekend car & find the E89 ticks both boxes

I know it is all just banter - surely that is what the forum is all about! :?

I have never wanted any convertible in my life, ever! Even as a kid at primary school drooling over E-type Jaguars I always wanted an FHC.

And now I have grey hair, am over 50, have plenty of ugly genes, live in a country where rain falls more often than the sun shines and have working climate control I am convinced a Coupe is a better option for me! An E86 is certainly the only Z4 I would ever want!

But I realise others prefer Roadsters and I'm sure they deliver similar entertainment albeit in a slightly different way (actually if I get a chance I would like to try one to compare).

Maybe we need to get together for once and rise up against the SLK, Crossfire, TT and Boxster owners instead of in-fighting! :lol:

Surly you cant mean that John!!! The e89 is just for indecisive old wobbly people who cant get in and out of sports cars any more!! Just look at Andy (Mr Wilks) he proves my point perfectly...... :evil:

I like the comments from members who owned both or swapped from roadster to coupe or vice versa. These are valid opinions from having experienced both models. Their not biased opinions with no actual experience of using a convertible I'ts quite naive. I've owned a couple MX5's, MR2 with the targa top, E46 330ci convertible and E85 Z4. If I don't replace the Z4 next with a E64 645i convertible I'll get a E46 M3 convertible. My E46 convertible was actually the longest car I've ever kept for almost 6yrs which is why I bought the roadster with same reliable M54 engine. Its a lighter car so knew it would be more fun than E46 too. This wasn't a thread about which car is technically better. I know coupe owners must feel out numbered always looking at these beautiful roof down moments but why have a problem when its a thread about roadsters !!!!!!!!.

Only problem I have is worrying about tree sap.......happy days

I'm happy because I'm driving a 3.0si coupe, the only Z4 to score 5 stars in Evo magazine and there for the best ever Z4. No wonder M coupe drivers are so grumpy having only a 4 and a half star Evo rating

I much prefer the looks of my coupe (personal opinion ) but I love the rear end so much, the only reason I got a Z4 in the first place - ironically I had a 3.0si roadster first.

I must admit though, I much preferred the open top driving aspect. It was fun pootling about slowly, or quickly! In the Coupe, to be honest - the enjoyment now really only comes out of driving swiftly with the windows down! Swings and round abouts for me...

I see this comment on every owners club forum I've been on; the next Mk of car always gets called watered down, worse, whatever.... then the same people are driving them a few years down the line! :lol:
