Z4 project

I'd be amazed if those fronts don't rub on the arch liner (where it meets the bumper). Mine are the same size but et 33 I believe and rubbed when I had 235 tyres on.

Obviously I get a tiny bit of scrubbing on full lock but to be honest its no more than I got without the spacers believe it or not :)

Rears are perfect, but for me, the fronts are too far out.

Looks amazing btw, it's exactly what I've been considering, silver on anthracite CSL's.

You're not from the SE are you? I'd love a look.

Are you on standard suspension?

Thanks RJS-Z4 :)

I am indeed, im based in Hemel Hempstead and if you were around would be happy to show you!

The car is on eibach springs so believe they are circa 30mm lower than standard

So I had an issue this morning driving into work, noticed a noise on the rear and when I got to work my passanger rear brake and hub was smoking due to heat build up! :(

A quick call to Jason @ Protech confirms this is likely to be a seized caliper or more likely a sticking handbrake shoe. Either way im a bit edgey about driving it the 13 miles home later even at low town speeds >40mph

Im going to jack the car up and try spinning the wheel to see if it turns freely or not but does anyone else have any input?

Thanks in advance

Just jacked the back of the car up, and span the rear wheels by hand, there seems to be a similar amount of drag over both rear wheels. However I could easily turn the wheels by hand so I think im going to chance driving it home through towns to keep the speed down.

Then it looks like most likely this weekend I will be replacing rear discs and pads along with handbrake shoes

Or i will get the car in somewhere next week to get this done if I cant find the motivation to do myself

Grabbed a few pics out in the sun today after work. I'm happy now with how the car sits etc but have noticed I'm catching the rear arches under hard compression, the rear arches will no be rolled to accommodate this

Still think a facelifted front bumper is in order to make the front look more aggressive, but would welcome any thoughts and opinions as I'm pretty indecisive!

Car is also booked into Protech later this month for a full service

where are you based in the UK? I have a z4m rear bumper to go on and would have that colour (ignore my sig :p) bumper going spare once completed.

just a thought :)

Blacks on Sliver is a great combo and you have done it we'll with those wheels. Have to agree with most on the forum, you need to de-ginger the Z next. A M front grill would also give it a more finished line.

Why not roll the arches? I've done it on mine with a hard pipe, really simple process. Without rolled arches, the sharp edges on the inside will start eating chunks out of your tyres... I'm speaking out of experience

Thanks for all the comments :)

I'm based in Hemel Hempstead

I think I'm in a minority on here that a silver z4 needs a little contrast so for now atleast the ginger is staying put

I don't know as if ive seen a silver z4 with a facelift bumper and still with the ginger and have a idea of

Have to be honest too and say I much prefer the facelift bits to the aero, for me the aero bumper is too smooth and doesn't match the z4's lines as well as the more aggressive angular facelift bumper

I did consider rolling the arches myself however on previous cars have came close to cracking the paint so for the small amount it costs it's worth getting someone who knows IMO

I decided against the rondells in the end, I think the csl wheel suits it a lot more in person :)

I think they may be for sale though....

So I've been looking at facelifted front bumpers on eBay, all need to be respray end which is fine by me, but none come with the black plastic lower grill or the fogs..

Has anyone a clue as to how much bmw charge for these or if there was anywhere else I can look?

Thanks

Just ordered a k&n panel filter, should be with me in the next couple of days

Obviously going to have no noticeable performance difference however hopefully will have some difference to the sound but for £35 worth a try :)

Had the inspection 2 service today at Protech in Aylesbury, great service again from Jason as expected

Also she passed another mot with no advisories :) even got a few nice comments from the mot tester apparently!

On the drive home felt better than ever so think it's really benefitted, next up is to get the arches rolled, fit panel filter, address the front bumper and brakes all round

Just seen on the driftworks forum that their rear camber arms for the e36/46 fit the z4...

Would be nice to get a full fast road alignment done in the near future which I'm considering!

Also found a facelift front bumper with the lower grill for £140 but obviously needs painting, thoughts?

So got bored today and decided to spray my grills black..

Very happy with the outcome, can't believe it's taken me this long to do. If/when the paint starts to chip I will either plasti dip them or just replace with new black items! Anyways a few before and after pics:

Excuse the car in its dirty state, kind of at a point now where I need to figure out what to do next from the list below:

Brake upgrade to 330ci spec
Front bumper - repaint current bumper and maybe add a lip/facelift front bumper
Possibly new headlights with clear indicators
Zhp gear knob
3.0 sound generator
Adjustable rear camber arms and full hunter alignment

Really can't decide where to go next so all help very welcome!! :)
