Z4 project

Tango - welcom to the forum - looks like you are well on your way.
Might want to look into getting a 2014 calendar from Taz - if you haven't already. I think there may be a few left.

Welcome Tango,
How about aftermarket exhaust back box to complement the induction tweaks? That way you won't need the ICE :driving:

Start with the non run flats - one of if not the best mod you can do.......

How about orange wheels when you refurb to match your name (joking) :D

Thanks again for all the kind comments :)

Az4mw - I do like the clean look of silver when it's all cleaned up... When the nicer weather comes I'll be sure to run my da polisher over it to bring it up a little is a shame I just haven't had the time to yet :)

Helenz4 - run flats are high on my list of things to do, I want to get a little more life out of the run flats as they are fairly recent but they are niggling at me on a daily basis so I'm sure it won't be long!

I'm looking at getting the tyres, eibach springs and wheels refurbished in one hit most likely early march so will be eagerly awaiting the transformation! Until then I will be filling my time with the smaller details such as the stubby and the inevitable led bulbs..and finding space for a 2014 calendar!

Does anyone have a link to the bulbs/stubby? I've found a few bad eBay sellers and been stuck with some tat before so would be keen to buy once this time!

Hi Tango88, if you go on the newbie section and look for a post with a a newie with OCD under the name of mitch_z4 it's on page 2 you will see his silver Z4 cheers Andy

Just had a quick look, car is seriously clean especially underneath! Unfortunately mine is a daily driver so keeping it that clean for me would be nigh on impossible :(

On the plus side I got round to ordering a stubby and some led sidelights :)

He is lucky he works 5 mins from home and either gets a lift or walks, it's sorn at the moment as he wants it as a summer/show car, we both have got a stubby each and I have just fitted a set of led number plate holders on my /// M they are super bright

I think they should have both been factory fitted as they really are such an improvement over the factory antenna and standard yellow bulbs!

Got a little bored last night so decided to have a little play around on photoshop, I wanted to get an idea of how my car would look when lowered.
I know there’s plenty of examples out there with the same springs and spacer set up I will have but I wanted to see how it looked on my exact car.
Lowered approx 30mm

I then decided to try the wheels a couple of shades darker than they are purely as I was bored.

Not sure I would go anything other than a high power silver but they may grow on me.. What are peoples thoughts; original silver/dark/darker?
In other news my LED number plate bulbs turned up today so will be fitting them later if the weather is anything other than torrential! If they work out ok I will be buying the same for the sidelights as they are super yellow at the moment!

Hi tango88: I had these wheels on my Zed, with a slight exception I think they were an earlier version but the overall shape is the same. My opinion on the variations on your car: the slightly darker looks a bit 'dirty'. I think maybe because your car is silver and so the slightly darker makes the wheels look like you've had some good drives recently if that makes sense
Darkest I don't like.

I love these wheels :)

I know what you mean :) my thinking at the moment is that the silver looks fresh and is most likely what I will be keeping.

If the car was a different colour and a bit darker then maybe it would have been something to consider...

Got my led number plate bulbs fitted, simple enough job that improves on the original look a lot IMO

Just need a new set of plates now as these ones have been on more than there fair share of cars over the years!

Bit of an update: was heading home from gatwick after an awesome ski holiday only to notice on getting back to the car when moved that a coil from one of the rear springs dropped out of the bottom of the car...

Thought it best to try and limp it back as the spring was still seated nicely but didn't drive for more than 5 miles until a loud thud and more spring flew out the back of the car all over the m25!!

The car then started to feel extremely wallowy so decided to park up at cobham services and organise the below...

After a couple of hours waiting we eventually got the car loaded up and recovered back. Not really what you'd expect of a car with so few miles

After sleeping on it I see it as an ideal opportunity to upgrade.... Therefore I've swiftly ordered the Eibach pro kit which should hopefully be we me mid week

Plan is to do the rears myself as I've heard its easy enough and then get the car into Protech cars in Aylesbury to get the fronts done

Springs arrived today having been ordered from Demontweeks on Sunday night so very impressed with their service.

Will be fitting the rears tonight as Ive heard its easy enough in order for me to drive the car to Protech Cars in Aylesbury for Jason to do the fronts!

Once the car is back I will be ordering the spacers, my thinking is the Bimecc package on ebay complete with locking bolts in 15 & 20mm :D

Another update:

Got the rear eibachs fitted, was an easy enough job to do in the end and wasn't too soon either as both rear springs look as if they have snapped more than once...

Whilst we had the wheels off we noticed that one rear rim has a crack about an inch long in it. Whilst this has gone to be repaired a mate and I took the opportunity to get the car on some spare wheels.

Rondel 58's in 18x8.5 et13

Excuse the front ride height, car is going to Protech tomorrow for the front eibachs to be fitted.

To say I'm happy with it is a huge understatement and think that it's definitely the route I want to go down. Also means I don't have to have any spacers and still achieve perfect fitment.

We also tried a set of the 18x10 et19 on the rear just to prove they fit....

A touch extreme for me bit they fitted fine with no arch contact!

As always all comments welcome, I will try to get some better pics in the day tomorrow

Wait until you drive with those 18x10 rears on. Rub central.

Had the same problem with mine. They catch on the black plastic inner wheel arch liner.

We did run the car with them on and couldn't hear any contact....

Could be down to the fact the eibachs haven't fully settled yet though! In any case they're a bit much for me these days, the 8.5's all round fill the arches perfectly IMO

Could be wrong also but I don't remember eseeing a z4 on Rondel, 58's before??

Got the car back from Jason today after fitting the front springs, must say there's a huge difference in ride comfort and feels nowhere near as crashy over potholes and bumps in the roads plus the obvious aesthetic benefit.

I also couldn't resist photoshopping a rondell on the front to see what it will eventually look like when I can fit them...

Very rough pic but you get the idea :)
