I might need to try that shim on my column see if it makes a difference to mine.

Yea its not a big job & the guy who put me onto it reckons it cures the majority of sticky issues
Mine definitely does not have sticky steering now & after leaving the car on trickle the time i was away could not make it faultmode today so pretty sure my fault is related to a battery drain of some sorts .
Back into indy next week for more testing

Battery drain sounds nasty. Definitely not alternator-related? Sure you'll get it sorted one way or another.

Wheels now on , happy chappy & for the number crunchers they are 4 x 8-5j et 38 with 235 40 18 front tyres & 245 40 18 rear tyres

I actually think the wheels you've picked on mine would look pretty good on an E89. It's amazing what a difference a set of decent wheels make to the more modern looking Z4. Wife keeps telling me to upgrade to E89 as she gets deaf when I take her out in mine.
