Disappointed with the ebay brake light. Wouldn't recommend might aswell get proper one for sake of 25 quid.

Fitment is a bit s**t in the corners

can you not tweek the bolts up a bit to pull it in? My one from the bay fits lovely.. that said you're not always going to get a consistent product from the chinese i suppose.. gotta be worth sending it back though for a refund
yeah I'll try it mate but been warned not to do em up too hard cos it'll end up cracking the plastic lens?

I seem to remember mine looking a bit dodgy in the corners but i wound it up a bit and it pulled in, was still only tightening it witn my fingers on an extension so it never got too tight.. still looking ok 2 years on

Another extensive job on the horizon :headbang:

Could this be an old stored code rather than something new/current?

Thanks mate. Unfortunately not it came straight back when engine was running

That's a shame, but unless you get full history details it's a chance you take buying any BMW with an N52 engine.

The only upside is once it's done you know you should be good for at least another 60K miles!

I'm on number 3 and 4 N52 engines, and neither has had a new pump that I know of - numbers 1 and 2 both had to have one!

So I suppose it's just a matter of time - maybe I should buy a pump when I see one at a good price.

Yea I mean I can fit one myself it's no biggie it's just a pisser the cost of the pump

update on some progress:

the reluctor rings on the driveshaft have failed at the rear, meaning the abs / traction kicks in at low speeds even under normal driving , due to the bulbous abs rings which have been pushed off the driveshafts by rust - this also activates the 4 dash lights after spirited driving which are abs , traction control, handbrake in yellow and flat tyre indicator, this isnt really a big issue for me as i fixed the last z4 coupe i had using a washer in between the sensor and the hub, as is well documented on youtube, isnt a permanent fix, but even taking the reluctor rings off and changing them isnt the worst job, its just a bit labour intensive.

- done - using washer on nsr wheel - now drives perfect no lights on dash covered 300 miles now with no issues

the car makes a weird noise when driving, it sounds like a brake disc after youve just washed the car scoring along, but its constant, doesnt change in pitch or loudness, its just there constantly whilst driving at any speed, think it could be diff related, also, there is a horrendous vibration from anything over 80mph, which gets worse the faster you go, i think it might be the prop donut breaking down as i've had one before which did a simmlar thing - i thought it was odd when i asked the seller whats the car like at speed his response was 'i dont know, ive never been on the motorway in it... he also said that the brakes might be sticking on as i havent used for a while, but then went on to say that he went to get a puncture repaired in it the night before

sorted - The noise was the abs sensor rubbing on the reluctor ring and the vibration was some extremley out of balance wheels! New wheels up to 90 on private roads- the vibration has totally gone

the interior was the grubbiest thing ive ever seen when i got it, it looked like its been on a farm, there was thick dog hair and straw in between the thigh support when i got it, various bits of stuff down the sides of the seat and the steering wheel was in a terrible state, somthing that can only be described as snakes skin?

Bought some leather dye off ebay and sorted the steering wheel, removed seats scrubbed and refitted and dyed bolster

centre brakelight is falling out and leds broken, os indicator flashes fast / sidelight is out

replaced with ebay brake light - now tightened up looks fine - also replaced one of the front repeater bulbs so no more fast flashing

Jamie, I just got my knob! Looks and feels great. Way better than the original one.

But... How in the hell do you get the damn thing to stay on

Can't even get the old one to stay on now either...!

haha with the nature of it being a 5er - i had to stick mine in place with a blob of silicone around the top of the stick inside- holds fine now

Ahhh that's a good idea!
Interestingly tho, mine does seem to have a push fit collar thing in it... Not sure how that'd work though. Plus weirdly the original bmw one won't stay on properly either!

I'll just silicone it like you suggested!

yeah mine has a push fit collar but they obviosly didnt do it quite right  its held well now for a few weeks with no issues, ive just ordered another for my e46

So now you've got another E46 then - I can't keep up with your fleet!

I got extravagant for my E91 and paid about a tenner for an "aliexpress" special, but it fits really well. (It's on my E90 now).

Oh yes, I thought I was getting carried away when I bought Number 7 BMW earlier this year, but that is since 2005 so I realise I'm only a beginner!

Just wondering what E46 you have, and if you still have the E92?
