Z4 Newbie possibly buying ///MC this weekend advice needed!

What's wrong with pointing out a car to someone, even if it is his? Not like there are many around to choose from?

Seriously though I would not view a car at a service station/side of the road etc. Would have to be at the registered address
 
Is there no chance the guy could just be doing me a favour? Because he does stay right in the busy city centre which would also be crap for seeing how the car drives? Or am I just being naive lol

Adam is coming along to give a second opinion and my dad so if there's anything dodge surely we can find it between 3 of us lol

Also if I decided to buy I'd have to go to his home anyway? Unless he wants abandoned haha

I have a feeling that any hpi check you may do on the car isn't valid unless you view at the registered keepers address. Seems like you've got it all covered and thought through but reckoned it was worth mentioning.

I thought you could do an HPI check on any vehicle from anywhere? It's only a background check for registers is it not? If I do decide I want it I'll make sure I go back to the registered address with the seller before any cash changes hands. I've got everything crossed that's it's all as should be and the guys just quite crap at selling lol!

If you are a member of the AA/RAC an HPI check through them is a good bit cheaper than going through HPI direct. :thumbsup:
 
Meeting the view the car is ok. However, if buying I would expect that to be done at the vehicle's registered address

pictures look good but they can always lie .above the miles that I would go for but if it all checks out with adam your dad and yourself you should smell a rat if need be .

You can do the check from anywhere and at any time but it just means that you need to deal with the registered keeper at the relevant address at some point during the buying process.

They're just covering their arses should they provide you with the wrong information and the car turns out to be stolen. If you've bought from the registered keeper at the address that's written on the v5 then you've taken all reasonable steps to ensure its legitimate in this respect and they are then liable to cover any costs should the car be repossessed. If however you've bought it from a 'mate' of the RK in a garage forecourt then you'll be seen to have not taken reasonable steps to ensure the legitimacy of the sale and they won't cover your loss.

I'd say it's fine to make a first viewing at a mutually convenient location but in order for the hpi to be valid then you will at some point need to see the car at the registered address.

I'm sure whatever the situation is with the car and owner that you'll get a feel for it within the first few minutes so you'll know either way if it's for you or not.
 
Thanks for all the responses, yeah if all goes well ill definitely go back to the registered address before parting with any money.

Got the wonga now the car just needs to be up to scratch!!
