Z4 M options/value

Looks like the guys without Satnav will be stuck with their ///M's for a while, unless the potential buyers have the same thought process as I did, Nav would be nice but the car itself is the clincher :driving:
 
Some love it, some hate it. As a Nav unit, it's fine. The visuals are of their time, but the route calculation and recalculation leaves my much more modern car's unit in the shade. As PVR said, the pop up display offers better control of some of the other functions and it was on my search filters when I bought my last few cars
 
The single best part about the OEM nav is that it appears when you turn the key rather than having to be carried around, stuck to the windscreen, plugged in, etc.
No one is going to smash the window to steal the OEM nav either :wink:
 
... unless it is a fellow member with a sticky monitor or wants to do the retrofit :)
 
I just think its just one of those sticking points. I would say there are more spec hunters, than 'I want it just because its an ///M.' These cars are in an average price point now, there are a few around (roadsters more so) so if you were a potential buyer you might as well find one with the extras. Ive not really used the sat nav as the post code is rubbish. But I use the screen all the time, always have the computer up with where I am on the split screen, its also very useful when using a phone which I use a lot. I also think its just a cool little unit. Its what made the Z4 interior unique and why I liked it, flips up as you turn the key and looks really cool! The new ones are much better tho the one in my dads E92 M3 was much much better, but unfortunately its the best you can have in the Z for functionality.

No. I bought it to keep. I took the decision that by the time the car gets sold, an OEM SatNav would be as attractive as having an 8-track cassette player and a clean and uncluttered dashboard is far more preferable.

Bingo! Your car will look like a classic as will mine. Mine is a keeper too.

If ever you want to experience the OEM sat nav 'look' in years to come just buy an old Nintendo game boy off ebay and tape it to your dash with gaffer tape. :rofl:
 
Am I the only one who thinks the OEM Satnav is pretty good? Ok it may look a bit ancient but its always worked well for me.

Mine's definitely a keeper too but I'll happily shoulder the disadvantage of a cluttered dash and lacking the all important "classic look" for all of the advantages of the monitor and nav :P :lol:
 
Have you seen the cost of some of the Gameboys and archaic games go for on eBay? I'll just stick with my SatNav, thank you.
I also don't mind the SatNav, Ruby. Works fine for me - yes, its old, screen quality isn't best. But it works when I need it, and integrates with my Intravee fine.

I'm not overly fussed on the BMW nav itself, but I'd miss the display for the computer/audio information.

It looked old-fashioned when it was launched.
