Z4 M options/value

I too wanted a coupe without sat nav. To me its a worthless option... mucks up the clean lines of the dash, adds unnecessary weight and complexity and is just something else to maintain and go wrong. Much prefer portable state-of-the art GPS that can be used interchangeably in any of my cars.
 
I think colour and specification play a big part in price and ability to sell although condition is probably key.

When I was looking any silver, grey, black, blue car with dark leather and flimper spec was notably cheaper for coupes and roadsters.

Initially I only considered private but as I wanted warranty AUC cars became appealing especially as I negotiated two years into the deal.

My roadster has heated seats, storage pack, sat nav, cruise, upgraded stereo, Bluetooth and aux all of which are useful. I treat the nav like an electronic map and the only other option I wanted was foldable mirrors for when it's parked in the garage.

A car that looks cheap ie 11-13k isn't if it needs a combination of the following tyres, servicing, brakes, tax and has no warranty. It's easy to spend £1-£2k+ trying to get these cars upto scratch especially if you want warranty from BMW. Better to buy the best you can afford IMO and keep it that way and at resale you will more than likely see it back and sell the car easier.
Equally some of the more expensive cars I looked at we're no better than cheaper ones :)
 
My ///M is what you would call low spec, no Nav or cruise, I may have cruise retro fitted as I find it really useful, but it never bothered me that it didnt have Nav, that doesn't mean I wouldn't have had it if it was in the right car, my priority was condition, history and colour, i hope that if/when the time comes to sell Bing will appreciate the value of a portable navigation system :lol: :poke:

I have a Garmin... Thought it's reeeeeeeally old. You need to get that cruise retrofitted though :poke:

I may just leave my system in the glovebox then!

And I fancy the cruise retrofit :thumbsup:
 
Not having the toys... The problem is that most look for the spec, most expect M cars to have the spec, you might find it hard to shift also the money you save will mean it sells for less too. The nav is rubbish but the functionality is well worth having.

The only option that weren't a requirement to me was Heated seats in the coupe, mine doesn't have them but I'm sure lots like them.
 
Bing - when you get that old banger, we can retrofit the SatNav for abour £600 and increase the value of the car by about £2k :D

I hear what you're saying Tom but I'm sure that there's someone like me out there who will but a great car at the right money, anyway I'm nowhere near moving on yet, unless I drop into ///MC mode again like I periodically do! :driving:

I do have heated seats btw so I have some spec :lol:

Last one was my previous Z4 in 2006.

The loom and control stalk is less than £100 isn't it ? Then find a nearby forum member to help install, job done. PVR's going to do that to my current car for me :wink:

It's different for the ///M Bing, there's a company in the North East that does it iirc, they have to splice into the loom in the engine compartment I think, it's about £350 ish
