Z4 G29 Delivery Delays

Hi Russ
I thought my delays were bad enough, ordered July 19th collected March 29th, so 8.5 months, but close on a year is tough. I had the same thoughts, cars ordered after mine seemed to be coming through quicker, I guess it depends on supply of parts these days.
It will be worth the wait though....

Well, I've just seen on a news program that due to the Shanghai Covid look down, this being their main port for containers, that this will cause delays as bad as 2 years ago. I hope for your sake BMW parts don't go through there. :headbang:

272 days...

Looking forward to the next email stating further delay is due on the 28th of the month... like clockwork. Can't wait!

i've given up. Pretty sure the dealer has sold my car/build slot for better commission and didn't want to honour the 2021 deal we agreed and signed finance papers on. The interest rate BMW finance now offer is no where near the 2021 figure. So, gone past wanting the car. 10 months and no contact other than when i email and i get another fib.

I ordered a new Apple Mac studio back in April (all the components are coming from that part of the world), so the base unit /mouse/keyboard have arrived and are sitting in their unopened sealed boxes waiting for the new studio display to arrive (they are built in Shanghai). I understand that the world has changed, so I'm patiently waiting for it to arrive, but what I didn't realise is that the warranty has been ticking away on the items that have arrived, so I've potentially lost 4/8 weeks warranty and Apple aren't being flexible or accommodating when I approached them about it.

What have they been telling you? 10 months is getting on somewhat.

The weather is really grinding my gears. Why do I feel like if I do get the car, it’ll be snowing.

I was almost ready last year to sell my 35is and place an order for an M40i - I just felt a little bit uneasy about a genuine availability of a car.

These tales of woe seem to confirm my decision somehow.

To be fair. You could have had a new m40i in December/Jan due to a duplicate order.

That’s true but mid winter / week prior to Christmas wasn’t an ideal time - I didn’t want to drive it home and park it up in the garage at home nor indeed pay the arm and a leg for delivery.
As it turns out it would have been an impossible time as I was in hospital at the very time it was ready for payment and collection.
Certainly an opportunity missed and I was of course very grateful to all concerned at the time but it would have added to the already stressful situation.

At my age, I don’t want to miss the opportunity to drive out in the hobby car, who knows what’s around the corner ready to bite ya bum!

Makes more sense now to buy a second hand one. There are loads of very low mileage ones on the market and ex demos in just about any model and colour you want. At least you can be driving one in a matter of days. Plus they are a damn site cheaper than new ones.

From finding the one I wanted to driving her home was 4 days and two of those was getting the funds into the right bank account to pay for it.

I agree there are a few pre owned but my dilemma is my car was new to me and I have respected it - also it’s only done 14.6k.
I suspect most used M40i will have done as many or more?

My lack of a new one is also tempered by those inner thoughts that my car is still quite a desirable bit of kit. I suppose that’s the basis of a lack of real motivation?

Depends how much you want to pay for example.

The preliminary questions have been asked!

Good hunting. Noted that my ex 35is that was advertised as £26k is now taxed so someone, hopefully a member on here will have sourced themselves a nice car
