Z4 G29 Delivery Delays

Hi blaster1956 I’ve been told by my Dealer that I must take it this month if it arrives next week; not sure of the reasoning behind this but may be because of reduced margin because of the discount I negotiated.
Won’t be a ‘22 plate therefore but as I have my own plate to register it with no big deal as it will still be a 2022 car. Knowing the reg also provides me with the ability to stalk the likely delivery date by regularly checking it on the DVLA website.
I really don’t understand how widely different our delivery dates are. From the VIN decode mine was made on 20th January when was yours?
Of course there is no guarantee that mine will turn up next week and yours may arrive sooner than the w/b 28th, let’s hope so and remind ourselves that this is not a race!

Think mine had a build date of 21st Jan, then spent a week and a bit at the plant, now it's been at the port for a week or more. Not sure why it's being delayed but I see there is a ship leaving Cuxhaven this weekend for Southampton so fingers crossed mine makes it onboard!!

Although to be serious again I'm not planning to take delivery until first week in March anyway so as long as it doesn't slip any further then all is good!!
Be interested to know what deletes (if any) you ended up with on yours when you take delivery.
What else to do on a Friday afternoon but track down which ship your Zed is on.....
Just checked in with Genius and my order has changed to status 9620 (At Sea) which coincides with the Prometheus Leader leaving Cuxhaven for Southampton, and yes I am so sad that I found a webcam in Cuxhaven to follow the ship out of port!

Must admit I did download the tracker myself!! Only spent a few hours checking its progress, honest.
Update SMS this morning from my Dealer says that my delivery has slipped to week 8 due to shortage of truck drivers, now w/b 21st Feb. Update from Genius just now says: "...Your car has now arrived in the UK and is due to arrive at your chosen BMW Centre shortly. They will contact you soon to arrange a hand over appointment..."
The truck driver shortage assumption may well be true as in truth I don't think he knows and their delivery status screen which he usually shares with me dated yesterday says status 193 which is Arrived at Port of Exit, i.e. Cuxhaven.
I think I'll go with the Genius answer as they seem to have a more accurate handle on status information. Not sorry if it doesn't arrive this week with Storms Dudley and Eunice about to give us all a pasting!

hi Peter - I think our cars have tracked each other pretty closely over the months, and mine definitely shipped from Cuxhaven last weekend and is now awaiting customs clearance in Southampton, I'd wager they were on the same boat and maybe now are waiting for the same truck!!

I have been reading the posts regularly since October when I joined, at the time it was to see who else was experiencing long delays for a G29.
The latest news is my car is now status 8200 - released to carrier - and is due to reach the dealer March 7th. I placed my order July 26th 2021, the original estimated delivery was October, by March 7th that will be 224 days if it does arrive by then. From reading through the posts it seems some Z4's ordered after mine have been delivered or are about to be delivered. Not been able to get any reasons for this, except the usual chip shortages statement, but surely this would delay all orders placed since last summer? I have even recently dropped into dealers in the general area who have a used Z4 in stock just to remind myself what I ordered, but seeing one in the metal just confirms it will be worth the wait.
Anyway, it will be a 22 plate, although it will have a cherished number, and so far it seems my chosen specification has not been downgraded.
Spec ordered - Z4 20i M Sport, Sapphire Black, Black Leather, Pro Pack, Visibility Pack, Comfort Plus Pack, Parking Assistant.
Really looking forward to getting back into driving with the roof down, its been almost 12 months since I sold the M240i convertible we had....
But that will change in 3 weeks
What can possibly go wrong
Can anyone advise on how to track the car to the port / its progress now it's on the way?
