Z4 G29 Delivery Delays

I thought I’d ask about delayed registration until 4th January 2022, to which they point blank refused, can’t do that blah blah blah. At the end of the day it’s not in their interest to give anything further away, I obtained nearly £6.5k discount of list, if I cancel they still get the car and they can probably get the now £55k for it. It’s just wait patiently and swallow my frustrations and yes try and be optimistic

That's what happened to my G31. I ordered it before the first lockdown and secured about £14k discount on a £47k 520d. The car arrived in UK one day after the first lockdown, which meant I couldn't pickup the car until late May. When I could finally pickup the car, my sales kept asking me whether I'm sure I still want the car. Even on the day of handover, he pointed to another customer in the showroom and told me I can still cancel the deal and he can sell this exact car to that guy with zero discount.

What do you mean the point blank refused? If your car arrives in December and you say you’re busy and can’t pick it up until Jan they haven’t got a leg to stand on.
The car was delayed 4 months and you want another couple of weeks. If you wanted to, I’m sure you could push them to do it.

They delayed it for months , you want to delay it a few weeks? I think they should cut you some slack !

You do have some business / personal commitments don’t you?

I haven’t given them an option.
I’ve just said if it’s 1 day into December I want the car registered in Jan.
They haven’t pushed back yet, but I suspect that’s because they still believe the car will arrive this month.

It is all to do with the sales and their Christmas bonus!

The reason given was that pricing was agreed, which means that any discount or price increases are based on delivering this year. As I stated earlier this is just a lie, as we’ve entered into a contract for a given price, however the PCP rate is not and that can be withdrawn, it’s just not worth the hassle as I’ve got more to lose than BMW

It’s not for the dealership to withdraw the finance.
You should call bmw finance and ask politely if it’s ok to delay receiving the car to the 3rd jan as it’s been delayed so long you think it’s more beneficial for both of them in terms of actual car value.

From passed experience, if you have bmw finance on your side, you are in a very strong position.

Check your car today. Mine has changed code and arrived at the port of exit!

You can almost touch it Ori !!! :driving:

Yes and no!
Car has slipped delivery and is now scheduled to arrive at dealer on week commencing 29th which means that I can’t receive it until December.
I have made it clear to dealer that I won’t collect it in December and want it registered in Jan. unless they compensate me somehow which they won’t.

Can you sum up how many weeks delivery has slipped please?

Car was ordered week 24 on the proviso to obtain a limited production slot for a scheduled delivery in the third week of September, week 38. My car was actually built week 41 and the estimated delivery is now week 47, but this is more likely to be weak 48 or even 49, so we are looking at a 24 week delivery and 10 weeks late. It was delayed two weeks due to a longer August shutdown, a further two weeks waiting for parts, the remaining five or so weeks has been shipping delays, this is the worst part, knowing the car is built but stuck two weeks at the factory waiting for a carrier, then stuck at the port waiting for loading. Every time there is a code change there a revised delivery given as there has been an unscheduled delay.

Almost identical to mine.
Mine didn’t have the quality control delay that you had and today is confirmed as week 48 delivery to dealer.

Just had a chat with dealer and we have agreed a Jan 2nd/3rd collection. He is still hopeful that the car will arrive earlier, but has resigned to the fact that it’s unlikely.

I’m annoyed as I miss the Black Friday sales which would have been 30% off service inclusive and high beam assist, but that’s just how it goes.
I made it clear that I will only accept the car in December if they or BMW compensate me. He said he will get his regional manager to speak to BMW. I’m not holding my breath.

I do wonder how much value difference there is between a car registered in December to one registered in Jan.

[ref]ori[/ref], Where do you find the Black Friday offers? If I go into the BMW shop through My BMW high beam assist is still £160 and if I go into service inclusive it says not currently available to purchase for our cars in the UK.

Have you found another link for these?

It hasn’t started yet. Will be last week of this month. I’ll keep an eye out for it.

If the high beam assist is only a software change - I’m sure your dealership will do something to soften the blow of delays you’ve suffered !

Are you sure as almost every model from every car manufacturer is now subject to delays
