Z4 G29 Delivery Delays

Many thanks @blaster1956, my first ever Beemer and a replacement for my great fun but space-challenged MX-5 which has now gone. I'm used to waiting patiently for a factory order as the Mustang took 9 months, hopefully my Zed won't take as long!

Just got an update from Genius on my M40i order. Now showing status 111 with planned production for last week in January 22, delivery presumably 4-6 weeks later, so probably early March if that build slot holds.

Unsurprisingly they didn’t have (or weren’t prepared to share) any info on Touchscreen deletions.

That’s not too bad, at least you know that it’s pencilled in and when it will hopefully start :thumbsup:

@Sars: yes, Cognac interior for me too, the Ivory White was just well, too white for me, the Magma Red looked like weak tomato ketchup(!) and I didn't want another car with a black interior.
@blaster1956: ours should not be too far apart I would guess although I think your order was placed earlier in September than mine?
A general question from a newbie - when should I request my Production Number from the Dealer? It'll be 5 weeks tomorrow since I placed the order.

Yeah I think my order was raised around 8th September and I got my order number within 3-4 days, although I did have to ask them for it. Should be a 7 digit number.

I now have my Production/Order Number, the Dealer helpfully sent me a short video screenshot of their order system. Its showing status 111 - Capacity Checked with an expected delivery week of 07/02/2022. There's also an entry for "PW Dealer 49/12/2021" which I assume is the production week?
I'll check these details later today with Genius.
 
Well that doesn’t sound too bad at all! Even if it slips to March you should have the car for the good weather.
 
I think for the sake of my sanity, I need to stop reading this thread!

I think the loss of touchscreen would be a massive source of irritation. I said at the time of order that the loss of HK would be a non-starter for me. (I sit in a lot of traffic jams and an idling engine (or more accurately, a start/stopped engine) isn't much company).

Im looking forward to... hopefully - car as expected in March. Advantage of March of course, is the plate change to 22 - to help residuals a little I guess.

Genius Chat seems overloaded ATM, probably due to questions about touchscreens...
@blaster1956: no, touchscreen not discussed as our exchange was by email, the Z4 brochure still mentions touchscreen: https://brochures.bmw.co.uk/z4/technology-multimedia/overlay/multimedia-standard-systems/
 
I’m not a big fan of touch screens in cars, magnets for fingerprints, don’t think I would overly upset if it wasn’t available. Have BMW increased their prices, just reconfigured mine and it’s up £800 or so

Yeah. They have increased prices.

Ps. My car still hasn’t shipped! Still released to carrier.

Just a general update as I had bmw genius call me (online chat is down) for those worrying about touchscreen missing.

She said that the update about the screen is for US cars at the moment. They are actually expecting the situation to start improving next year anyway.
So as things stand, if you’ve ordered a car you shouldn’t have any missing spec other than ones you have been advised on.
She said this may change if BMW U.K. make an announcement.

Ps. My car is still not at the port. Been on handed to carrier for 10 days now. Delivery hasn’t changed and is expected next week.
