Z4-FORUM NATIONAL MEET,LAKES/DALES,JULY 2012

Just gauging interest at the moment. Traditionally we cruise the Lakes on the saturday then hit the Dales/North Pennines Sunday. The Sunday run usually has the most empty roads and is usually the best liked.

So was thinking of maybe turning the Saturday drive on the busier Lakes roads into some sort of rally/treasure hunt thing where we can tour the lakes and have bit of competitive fun as well. (If Craig gets lost and asks for directions with his accent he's stuffed  )

Any thoughts?? The weekend is for you all to enjoy so I'll go with the majority view :)

A rally I think you could be on a sticky wicket but don't see any issue with a treasure hunt after all you are doing it for Pleasure

I like such events and can be fun, but they could be a bit problematic for single occupancy Zeds. Map reading, clues, etc. while attempting to drive.

Did a lot of stuff with Jeeps on and off road and the club had to have PLI in case anything happened, primarily to third parties or their property. Very expensive.

Overall my preference is for driving and enjoying the Lakes scenery. Doesn't have to be fast just cruising around.

Enjoyed the blasts last year but was just as happy when we were poodling though the small villages etc.

Ok well looks like we'll be just cruising again! I noticed the BMW car club have pinched one of last years pics (around the Honnister Pass I think)to advertise this year's Zed fest! Hope the weather is as good this year :)

Weather seems great whenever you are involved in organising run, hope you keep up the record :) I'm up for a more gentle pootle if its available, and depending how many of us there are it may be good to split, but happy whatever

I think RichardG got it spot on at the Moffat meet. Gentle to mid paced drive on Saturday with some great scenery. Sunday building up to an all out hoon along the A702 (might have the road wrong, but think that's it) at the end of the drive :driving:

I'm happy either way :)

Is an all out hoon within the national speed limit or does it exceed the national speed limit?

Thanks Adam, I was concerned about the pace all weekend, but I guess at the end of the day we all have work on the Monday morning and no one wants to end up in a ditch or worse, plus my audible speed limiter keeps me check most of the time.

Malcolm as well you know it all depends on the road, some roads can be that tight and twisty or even that bumpy that even 50mph can be too quick, that said the A702 Dalveen Pass is a corker that just opens out and begs to be driven and I think I may however fleetingly exceeded the given limit just once

Just to be 100% clear as a mod of the forum I should perhaps restate that all meets are conducted 100% within the both speed limits and safe conditions of the road and circumstances.

Anyone who wishes to 'hoon' can have their own 1 person run.

May sound heavy, but I just want to ensure it's clear that this is a 'meet'.

I am with the others on this too,John....nice idea of a treasure hunt, but may be pretty difficult for ppl without passengers,as mentioned by cj..and folk in those Lakes might not understand me anyway, lol
Was the Easter weekend getting u all in an "egg hunt/treasure hunt"mood,mate...haha :D
Anyway, your routes are always great anyway,mate...regardless of how busy/quiet the roads...looking forward to it,cant wait  :driving:

Always within the national speed limit of course. Just enjoyed blasting through the twisty bits at pace.

My definition of a 'hoon' is a spirited drive. But always within speed limits, and with regard to road conditions etc.

Keep safe. It's the best way :)
