Z4-Forum INSURANCE scheme with CHRIS KNOTT :: 0800 917 2274

Spoke to your office concening renewing my insurance policy, to say im dissapointed would be an understatement, after running through the usual compare sites etc (because that what your guy advised, to give them some "ammo"), I mentioned the figures I had been quoted and was promptly told "theres no way we can match that", infact the figure he gave me, wouldnt have even made the top 10!! phoned my existing insurer (privelege) as the renewal is on its way but I wanted to know what the figure was,and they were cheaper as well!!

With August being the second busiest month of the year, after March, I expect quite a few of you are coming up for your car insurance renewal.

Please feel free to give us a call when you receive your renewal papers through. I have collated a large list of excellent feedback from those who have already rung us so thank you for that.

Our average recording saving for our new customers in 2009 is £60.02 off their BEST quote so now you know why we have had to take on more staff!

The number is 0800 917 2274 or 01580 752961 if calling by mobile and PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO QUOTE THE CLUB NAME & REFERENCE NUMBER found in either my signature or my original post introducing the scheme!

No Offense but Id need a bigger saving than £60 to move insurance companys.

I suppose that depends on how much your premium is. If it's £2000 then £60 is a drop in the ocean. However if it's £200 then a 30% saving is worth spending 5 minutes on the phone.

Hi, although my insurance isn't due until Jan I'd like to know how your insurance cover stands regarding the issue of using non-runflat tyres. A major bugbear of many Z4 owners is that the Bridgestone runflats issued with Z4s as standard equipment are too hard and unforgiving and too expensive. Would your policy allow the use of non-runflats e.g. Falken fk-452 tyres provided they met the required load and speed ratings? Some insurers wont cover. This is important to me as my tyres will need to be replaced before I have to renew.

mmm-five makes a good point but remember that is an average saving. From memory a few days ago when i was last in the office, there was a chap who was quoted £650 and we quoted him £550 plus Legal Protection and he took out the insurance today.

And as our esteemed friend also point outs wisely, it's worth 5 minutes of a free call to find out how much!

Please don't forget to ring us if your car insurance renewal is due within the next 21 days.

August and September are the 2nd & 3rd biggest months for renewal dates so I expect quite a few of you will be sighing at the thought!
If we can already save our new, 2009 customers an average of £60.02, then surely it's worth a phone call...and a free one at that!

0800 917 2274 (or 01580 752961 if calling by mobile though not free unless you have free minutes!).

One thing I ask - please don't forget to quote the club name and/or reference number found in my signature below.

Done the call but like Rusty did not get in the top 10 for some reason. No idea why as I thought I was a typical straight forward case with no points, no accidents and maximum no claim discount.

Well chris wont insure me..... You have to have the car for over a year before they will insure you. Even tough I am 28 and have 3 year ncb. Booooo!.... not very happy with that.

To be fair, this is a specialist insurance policy for experienced drivers of performance cars. The opening post does explain it:

All drivers must have held a full UK licence for at least 1 year, and to insure a 'performance' car, there must be at least 1 years experience of driving that, or similar performance cars

Different companies specialise in different areas of the market... some the over 50's, some just drivers with full no claims etc... Don't take it personally, they just take on clients to suite the target profile of their underwriter. They can't be the best for everyone, but due to the fact they specialise in car clubs some people will find they save a lot (and have!).

Yeah, ill try next year. to be fair I got a renewal for £592 for the year, so hopefully it will only go down!. I have been driving a z4 3.0 and a 330D but only 3rd party and no way to prove it.
nevermind, ill try again in a years time.

Just tried Chris Knott for a quote............ they wont insure me until I have had the Z4 for a year! How weird is that? my renewal is in September but I only bought the Z in June of this year and they said try again next year. Im offering them business not asking them for a loan!...................... Im officially disgruntled now

I am not sure where you are coming from. They are up front that this is their policy. Would you be disgruntled if you phoned one of these companies that only deal with the over 50's, because that is the same situation?

I suppose I woudnt be ringing one of those companies as I know Im not over 50. Whereas I know I drive a Z4. I see now that this is thier policy but to be honest, when youre looking for insurance you take more notice of the attention grabbing headline (which is the purpose of it) Had it said 'Have you had your car more than 12 Months? If so I MIGHT be able to save you some money' Then I might not have bothered to try them and be so disgruntled at the end of the process. I just think that its such a frustrating process to begin with that anything that makes it more complex seems to be a waste of time.

Hi Tim

Only had my Z4 for 9 months but I have owned a straight six 2.5 litre rear wheel drive 3 series compact which would take me over the year cumulatively.... does it count as relevant experience?

I'll understand if you say it isn't a performance car, but I will be asking you to call my previous insurers for a refund as I have definitely been paying performance car premiums!

Let me know if this is a query for the sales team

Many thanks

The problem is that people with less than a year's experience of driving Z4 or similar performance vehicle have a much greater chance of making a claim than those with the experience.

The stats are so high that the insurers can't sustain this.

Hopefully we'll get you a great deal next year.

Sorry.
