Z4 for the long run!

So made a decision to keep the Z4 for at least another couple of years. Wasn't an overly hard decision to make given the lack of replacement choices and the cost of change incurred in doing so. Did consider the E92 M3 but at £10k min to change for a like-for-like mileage model it just wasn't worth it. I have 7k until my Insp 2 and very little in the form of consumable costs expected. So bring on the refurb work to the car,

Stage 1 – Wind Screen replaced (Stone chipped to hell mainly from chasing Daz05 up A roads!)
Stage 2 – Wheel refurb (Done this wk, not 100% on the colour but they’ve done a decentish job – also fitted a 35profile tyre which is 100% better than the 30!)
Stage 3 – De-dent today!! (Unfortunately I live in a flat and the spaces are too narrow!
Stage 4 – Full front end Respray inc fitting Aero skirts & rear bumper happening on the 5/9/11
Stage 5 – Fit spacers & Geometry set up, skim rear disks!
Stage 6 – Full 3 day detail

By the end of this it should look like a new pin! Or like it did a couple of years ago, which incidentally was the last time it was polished. Will share new pics in the coming wks! 

She's going to look a million dollers Aliv6. Are they genuine CSLs? And how much you thinking for full front end respray?

There not mate...But in my defence i didn't 'choose' them!...i pinched them off my brother for the some of £700 which included brand new PS2's and i sold my OEM wheels for £350 so it was a no brainer. Plus they do look kinda good either way!

I'm paying £850 cash for full front end (bonnet, bumper, fenders and a bit of work to the bottom of the bumper) + Paint and fit skirts and remove and repaint rear bumper. It's a fair price, hope the job is good. - For the Clio i use a guy in Glasgow but i've just not got time to go down with work.

Can't wait to see it at the end of the day! Oh and Stage 7 - Fix the rattle coming from the dash, that BMW won't cover under my warranty! Shocking!!!

Sounds like a good price. Nicely done on the wheels too. An offer you seriously couldnt refuse

Remember seeing these pics & thinking it looked fab at the time.. Interesting you're doing some paint work, I'm stalling but I'd probably benefit from full front end also.

If I do, I think the 3 day detail is an awesome idea.. although I'd be totally afraid to drive it after that.

Dents removed (bar 1!!) :( unfortunately our doors have an obstruction right in the corner, so when it goes in for the paintjob they'll have to fill and blend into the first inch of the door! Pity, but one of these things

11 dings removed over 4 panels in under an hour and he did it for £120 all in! :) Usually £75+vat per panel! Not bad really!

Andy, stalling may be a good idea with winter coming, but then again, the bumper can be done again for £200...so not overly flustered about that!

Looking good Ali, the driveway looks familiar!

I was passengering with a11y on the Islay trip so popped on to upload some pics.

Ali,

What size of tyres are you running on your CSL wheels? I've just bought a set of CSL wheels and the tyres on them at the moment are Vred's 235/30 19 on the front and 265/30 19 on the rears. That sound ok?

yep thats fine. In the pic above, it's as you say. Now i've got 255/35/19 on the back which gives a better ride, but doesn't look quite as tarty!

Stage 4 started y'day. Should get the car back Friday!

Stage 5 done - Car looking pretty good. Couple of bits that need further refinement (Polishing) - Mirrors. Also a few buffer trails on bonnet, but on the whole pretty chuft.

Aero skirts look brilliant! - Well worth it!

Spacers looks great too! Pics on sunday providing the weather is nice!

I think you'll take that Black Beauty to your grave...

Ha! Thought you's sold the car with them on!

Nah, not really bothered about mod'in the car. AP's are overkill on my 6mile comute to work! lol!
