The exhaust looks amazing! You got to record some videos

Thank you Ed for your supportive comments it really helps when taking the time to write up these posts  . I understand its not everyones cup of tea and at the end of the day I am primarily doing this for myself but if it helps someone else that is looking into what can be achieved then I and everyone else that does these build threads have achieved something . :)

Lovely - my 2nd E86 had a custom cat-back system when I bought it and sounded much better than my first one! :)

I have been looking into running throttle bodies or just cutting off the original runners for a while now but all the posts I have seen ( mainly USA ) have not come to anything until now . This however looks promising .... :tumbleweed:

Just FYI, the N52 single throttle body only works to intervene to cut engine power when the traction control intervenes; it doesn't actually function as a throttle body in normal driving - the valvetronic varies the valve timing and duration to mimic the effect of a throttle body/throttle bodies! You'll probably find by removing the standard Inlet Manifold with the twin-stage DISA and replacing with trumpets that you'll suffer from a reduction in low-end torque, but you may end up with a bit of gain at the top end!

Yes this was discussed on the e90 post Bimmerforum that low end torque may take a bit of a dive but top end should gain much like if changing to the N54 inlet manifold but in this case you get the sound of the inlet trumpets :) that you lucky M guys get  As you are probably aware its getting the trumpets the right length to minimise any losses and maximise gains and then getting the right tune to make it all work . Then of course you have to sort out how it will be filtered . Hopefully 22RPD will be able to get a kit and tune together . I will wait and see what they come up with and take it from there . If the torque losses in the lower range are too high then I will stick with what I`ve got but it would be good to improve the top end as that is where the MILVs do their work . :)

Fair shout you've clearly done your research

Top stuff again, this is all jolly interesting, I'm enjoying your project thread greatly! 8)

I bet it sounds amazing in real life

It certainly does but definitely noticing a bit more drone now . I will wait to see how it settles in . I may try and get a video of the sound from inside the car as when it hits the higher revs it really brings a smile to my face and one of terror to the better halfs :D

Speaking of research I will be looking for a new set of wheels in the new year and have been looking at Apex EC7 ( that I see you have ) and Arc 8 `s plus the Advan GT premiums shown here https://www.tarmacsportz.co.uk/advan-gt-premium-18x9-5-et12-5x114-3-wheel-c-5-face-73mm-centre-bore-racing-titanium-blue.html . I would appreciate your views on the EC7 and why you went for them against the ARC 8 . Thanks

I went for the ec7 simply because they were on the car when I bought it

I do really like them but honestly if I'd started from scratch I'd in all likelihood gone for the arc-8s as I knew of them long before the ec7s. Imo the arcs are the perfect alloys for the coupe, especially with a decent concave profile! I can't be sure now but I vaguely recall the ec7s are a tiny bit lighter than the arc8s but it's negligible in the grand scheme!

Happy to give you my specs if it helps but they may be a touch aggressive for the non-M platform.

Drone at motorway speeds could also be the diff ratio. Since swapping to your 3.64 the drone I used to have on motorway has reduced.

Ah yes . Good point . Thanks Craig

Did some interior sound videos yesterday and another flyby which is a bit better than the previous one but other road noise kills it a bit . Still doesn`t sound as good as the real thing though . Had to cut the first video just as I was getting going as my better half was feeling sick  Bless her :)

I was going to use iPhone but it says that you can’t use that for the e86

This says it can be used for e series cars for xHP https://www.mlperformance.co.uk/products/mhd-universal-wifi-obdii-flash-adapter

I've bought the software and spent the last week waiting for the wifi adapter- which doesn't bloody work on an e86

So I've downloaded the program to the laptop but it doesn't open (working on win10)

Did you have any issues with setting it up on PC?

Thats a pain espaecially as it says it works for e cars . I hope they pay for the return postage considering the false description .

I had no problems downloading the program and setting it up on windows 10 and that is on my old laptop . All I can advise is to go through the instructions again just in case you missed something as I have done this before thinking I had followed everything correctly .
