i bought my car on it's looks alone, the roadster just doesn't do it for me, good job we are all different

having used an E89 for a week i can say the roof down experience does not thrill me so i'l stick with my coupe

How did you personally find the e89 compared to your coupe mate?(roof aside)

There wasn't a Z4 before the roadster to be polished - so i can only assume you made a typo, and as the coupe came second you are dissing the roadster only to inadvertently describe our own car as - a polished turd ?

its probably faster but it did not feel as much a beast as the coupe, i did like the more modern interior

I looked at both before i finally settled on a 3.0si roadster, i love open top motoring so am 100% happy with my choice. But the coupe is defiantly the sexier looking model. Will i even own a coupe? Yes totally, I am always checking what Z4MC's are for sale.

Thats exactly how I feel about all floppy tops! But with less than 3000 coupe's in the UK who can argue with that rarity.

Honestly I have had 2 Z4 roadsters before , and there is a small part of me that wants to be in a "Roadsters" just any covertible. On a lovely day but its the same feeling I get when I own a Roadster as its pissing with rain or its cold and windy but wanting a coupe.

Overall honesty you will not go wrong with either , if you buy a roadster get a hardtop its a must best of both worlds... But hand on heart I love my coupe way more than I ever loved my roadsters, for rmany many many reason which have been talk to death a little on the forum before.

Best of luck with your search but I would get the Coupe!

I have a roadster and yes the coupe looks better...has less flex in the chassis, different suspension set-up and is more exclusive then the roadster.... But what many, many, many other reasons do you have that you love your coupe more then your roadster? Just curious?

Never for one moment have I felt jealous. It's simple, if I'd wanted a roadster I would've bought one, sure the same can be said vice versa for roadster owners. Convertibles are just not my thing, I don't want to drive a car with the roof down.

I only use the hardtop in the winter or when it's needed for some track day regulations when they forbid topless cars..



My opinion about Z4 roadster vs Z4 coupe. It's common knowledge that the Z4 Coupe looks better then the Roadster and that the Coupe is more exclusive then the roadster... I own a Roadster and IMO the Coupe does look better, but when driving with the top down the Roadster is more fun for me. If I bought a Z4M coupe then I had a small unpractical sports car, if I bought the roadster then I also had a small unpractical sports car but with extra added value of also having a convertible

Then you made the perfect choice... In a perfect world I would own a Z4M roadster for street and summer driving and a Z4M coupe (with rollcage) for pure track driving.

Not sure that's a great argument. Why do any of us care what our cars look like from the outside? Because we all like to show off a little, anyone who thinks otherwise is in denial. Otherwise why do we spend so much money on aesthetic mods - after-market kits, alloys, clear lights, stubbies even. Other peoples perception of our motors is as important as our own.

Lets face it, if Proton released a car tomorrow heralded as one of the best drivers cars in the world, but which looked like a dog turd on wheels, would you buy it? I know I wouldn't.

As for the post above about the roadster being fine in bad weather, agreed. Quite sad, but I actually like sitting in mine with the engine off when I get home and it is tipping down because the sound of heavy raing on the cloth top is very soothing

So it's not just me - love the drumming of rain on the soft top
