Z4 coupe ...be honest

I live in Queensland, Australia. Most of the year it is simply too hot to drive with the roof down. You'd fry your brains.

We have a glass sunroof in the A6, and the shade stays closed on that for 9+ months of the year!

Coupe looks sensational too. No regrets here :-)

As a floppy owner, I still love the lines of the Coupe., though it doesn't appear to squat as low as its older brother when it goes commando...
 
Gruppe M, H&S Custom exhaust, Roof down, Tunnel, 7k rpm. 8)

Coupes look great & Id love one sitting in a barn to look at too, but every time I have to drive mine with the roof up it feels compromised. Until you have a hangover that is.
 
Love the styling of the coupe, drives very well (only driven never owned one) and very nearly bought one (was a choice between a cayman and the coupe at that point) but the roof-off requirement just pushed both out of consideration. Do I regret it? Never in the good weather (just love top down motoring) and as I drive 4WD or FWD in the bad weather, if I had one in addition to the roadster I doubt it would get the usage.
 
Had great fun as a passenger in Sammyz's roadster the other day, but I turned down a Z4MR to buy my 3.0 coupe and I have never regretted it :)

We're not talking about performance but a feeling, in particular on a sunny day... Which was the original question. Every once in a while I keep the roof up when I shouldn't (yeah, ok shoot me down...) because I just don't feel like letting the world in. I like having the option though, and down in Kent it gets exercised a lot with the weather we get. I agree that with the roof up on the roadster the Coupe edges it on looks from certain angles, but with the roof down the roadster just looks proper, and more 'road shark'. For the record, as I have said before, it was a 2 day test drive in a coupe that made me want a Z4 - I just didn't want a roof.

Now I'll butt out as the question wasn't aimed at me :D
 
I only regret it at night on a warm moonlit evening.Thats when I love an open top.In the day or full sun ,no thanks.
 
Am I the only one around here who thinks the E85 looks great even with the roof up?
Admittedly it looks even better with it down, but I really like the somewhat funky cloth-top look. And the way the Z4 is built it's warm, dry, and quiet inside even when the weather is nasty on the outside. Did 600km in an unrelenting deluge in mine with nary a problem, so weather-related reasons for not have a convertible make no sense to me. The coupe is gorgeous, but it's missing that all-important topless option.
 
Had a slk before the Z4 and found myself putting the top down for
the sake of it not because i like it :|
and for me its all about the looks and the coupe ticks all the boxes :D
 
I came from an Elise and have had open cars before but for me it was only ever the Coupe. Sorry but I just don't like the look of the Roadster. I think being a biker even open top cars just don't give that open road feeling. In great weather I miss my bike not an open top car.

As for the post above about the roadster being fine in bad weather, agreed. Quite sad, but I actually like sitting in mine with the engine off when I get home and it is tipping down because the sound of heavy raing on the cloth top is very soothing :oops:
 
Quite a few people have gone from roadster to coupe ownership, but very few have gone the other way. That must tell you something :roll:
I love to drive my Westfield in the sunshine, but the practicality of that car pretty much correlates with the number of sunny days we have each year in the UK - both are sadly lacking!
 
I have no regrets getting the coupé. I think the roadster looks great with the top down but putting the roof up spoils them. I love the look of the coupé, and the fact they are a bit rarer makes them more special to me.
I've never owned a roadster or convertible so don't know what I'm missing. Maybe ignorance is bliss :D

But then you have the worst of both worlds.

You've effectively got a coupe, with an additional cloth roof taking up half your boot space, and extra weight from the hard top, that you can't take off during your drive if the weather turns nice :poke:
