When it comes to selling you will always be able to explain why there are no badges and you can invite them to inspect for signs of a respray / accident damage
Well in 40+ years of buying and selling many cars, I have heard it all and normally if there is chrome missing or misaligned usually there has been a problem. People always say “Oh I just took them off no wrecks etc”. I do a Bondo check and after finding plastic where there should not have been. To say I am suspicious is an understatement. I bought a 280Z one evening and it was dark and cold. In the light I had it seemed fine even though it has badges missing. I bought it and later found it had just about as much plastic (Bondo) on it, as a Corvette. I will never buy a car without badges where they are supposed to be and I bet many would not either. In any case if you do take them off put them back on when you go to sell it.
