Z4 Badge on boot - Shall I ?

Looks smooth without them!

When it comes to selling you will always be able to explain why there are no badges and you can invite them to inspect for signs of a respray / accident damage

Well in 40+ years of buying and selling many cars, I have heard it all and normally if there is chrome missing or misaligned usually there has been a problem. People always say “Oh I just took them off no wrecks etc”. I do a Bondo check and after finding plastic where there should not have been. To say I am suspicious is an understatement. I bought a 280Z one evening and it was dark and cold. In the light I had it seemed fine even though it has badges missing. I bought it and later found it had just about as much plastic (Bondo) on it, as a Corvette. I will never buy a car without badges where they are supposed to be and I bet many would not either. In any case if you do take them off put them back on when you go to sell it. :)

I think I'll be removing mine for the reasons above - doesn't add anything to the car and I prefer the cleaner look. Only worry is come resale time folk sometimes wonder if the reason it doesn't have a badge is because it's been resprayed and they've not bothered with the expense of replacing the badge!

I presume it's purely stuck on? No funny holes behind it or the like?

Cheers
Ally

No just stuck on with double sided tape use a hair dryer to soften the glue then carefully remove

Thanks.

And despite comments above I still think it looks better without the badge :D

I like my badge, in relation to the paint, I was told of an interesting program on one of the sky channels showing the making of a Z4. As most know it's made in america, but only 4 litres of paint is used, the body in charged negatively and the paint positively which means that when it's sprayed on it is as smooth as can be and top top quality. So i wouldn't worry too much about the colour fading. Keep it clean and waxed and you shouldn't have any problems.

Off topic, but I love the Z4 in red! Shame I couldn't find a 3.0 one when I was looking for mine.

(btw, I've taken the badges off the back of some my cars in the past, so it's not a 100% clue to accident damage)
