Z4 and E-Type in the New Forest

I thought I'd share a few pictures of a recent trip to the New Forest with a friends E-type.

The weather was showery and in the New Forest there's a 40mph limit as the ponys are liable to ignore the traffic and wander into the road at anytime!
So it we had to take it steady ... but were able to let the cars loose on the way there.

The E-Type is a stunning car and very comparable to the modern Z4. It has a 4235cc engine developing 265bhp, giving 150mph top speed and 7.0sec 0-60. For you techies it weighs 1240kg, and has quad coil / damper independent rear suspension with inboard discs and power-loc diff, torsion bar front suspension , 4 speed all syncrhromesh Jaguar gearbox giving 55mph 1st gear, 82mph 2nd gear!

The raw performance of the E-Type is remarkable considering the age of the car ... close to the Z4. The most obvious improvements in the modern car is the refinement and comfort for the passengers and the fact that the brakes work!

Thanks ovrkll ... which one would you vote for?!?!?!
I think the 4th one down would have to be my pick,,,,the blur effect looks great! Third pic is really good too.

that E Type is absolutely gorgeous. It would go real well with my maldives blue Z4!

This pic would have been awesome for last month!!!!! :!: :!: :!: This month I'm looking for snow or some more Christmas or Wintry theme. Tis an amazing pic tho!

Ahh - the Jag E in a coupe was the first time I ever averted my teenage automotive lust away from American Muscle cars towards a car that could actually handle back in the 60's. I had been almost exclusively oriented towards cars that went fast in a straight line for short distances prior to the Jag and then was left wondering if I had missed something along the way once I saw the XKE.

Since I really don't care at all anymore how fast things go in a short straight line I guess you know what happened after that. I do find it interesting that we have almost come full circle back to the basic long nose 2 seater design that Jaguar brought to the market over 40 years ago now.

Nice photos chap,

Its weird but i thought the Jag would be much longer than the Z4? A bloke down the road has a sweet E-Type Hard top and the noise it makes is mad.

More so when he rolls over a speed bump! Doh.......

Cheers

Ps where abouts in Midlands are you?

Hi PaulN
To be fair I didn't park as far back as the E-Type, and they are a similar size. I wonder if the Z4 will still have the 'head-turning' effect of the E-Type in 30 years time?!

Kevin
PS I'm in Solihull :|

Love the pic with the ponies in it, but would have to agree with ovrkll...I'd go for the blurred effect one. Beautiful cars!

Hi,

I can see its not as far back now, but guessed it was a slight angled space anyway.

I dont think there are many cars that can live up to the E-Type Its an Icon. But your Z4 does look pretty special next to the jag. I might even go as far as saying slightly better looking from that angle!

Im in leicester, it seems we have a few Midland members about now. Maybe a summer meet is on the cards.

Cheers

Cracking pics mate, good to see another Silhillian on here, I think thats about 4 of us! Where about in Solihull?

Actually, I saw a 57 plate black Z4MC going up the Stratford Road (towards town) last night on the way home from work .. at the Robin Hood roundabout ... was that you?
