Z4 3.0...wrong choice

I bought a 3.0 z4 a month or so ago and i think i have made the wrong choice. Dont get me wrong its a nice car and ticks most of the boxes but its just not fast enough.

I test drove it and it felt fairly fast, bought it and have got used to it and it really does not seem that fast now. Are the Z4m's much faster, from what I understand they are about 100bhp more and can be had for about 16k now. Is it worth upgrading? and will the insurance be much more, im only 21 and paying 2700 for insurance allready so dont want it to raise much more!

Thanks

You will see a hefty increase on insurance for sure, I have been quoted an extra £100 on top of my £400 hate to think what yours would be

So a car that does 0-60 in under 6 seconds is not fast  I know its not blisteringly quick, but it will eat most things. And yes of course a Z4M is quicker, but insurance, mpg, servicing and parts are all factors. I wish i just went and got a Z4M in some ways, but i do quite a few miles so for me a 3ltr is probably better. And i dont think its slow by any means, well maybe up to 3k its not brilliant, but over 3k then a smile appears.

Or maybe yours is in limp mode, and not delivering properly. Just a thought :)

Oh and a Ford Focus RS could not move from me, and thats a brand new one, not the older version  .

If he is paying £2700 already it would be about 5k imo :o

A Z4 3.0 slow.........no it isn't.If you want instant kicks,go buy a Scooby or EVO,and cry when you pay for the insurance on that.If you really need to go that fast, buy a superbike.

no matter how fast the car goes or what engine you have, you can only do the legal speed limit on public roads!

So what have you driven before the Z that makes you think the Z is not fast enough?

As has been said, you'll get used to the power of whatever car you have!

And Chris the 3.0 Z4 isn't slow by any means but I doubt it would keep pace with a Focus RS. 300bhp and 440nm of torque against 231bhp and 300nm for the Z4. The focus is abit heavier but it still has better power to weight than the zed, I'd still rather have the z4 though!

The Z4M is a little more to run but well worth it. You only live once. Enjoy.

The Z4M is a lot cheaper to run than most other cars in its class. A modern day bargain and classic in one.

Test drive one and decide for yourself.

Was thinking this, and looked at the stats of the RS against the Z4, and the Z4 on paper is faster than the RS, plus only bring FWD although with it's amazing diff would still be lacking against a proper car ha!

Who knows perhaps he had bags of sand in the boot! Plus over a tight distance there won't be much difference anyway, even to a Z4M doubt there would be loads in it up to 80, but obviously the Z4M is faster.

Plus who said mine was 231bhp

I used to have a kwacker ZX6R 636cc sports bike. That was fun, fun, fun.(until I come off and broke my collarbone). That was me and bikes done. I missed that pure adrenaline rush through my 330i and Z4 2.5 ownership since the bike.
I have to say though since the zed 2.5 was replaced by the Z4M, I haven't thought about the bike once.

Yeah but bikes and cars are so different. My old bike was a 600 ninja, and the speed and acceleration was imense, i had to sell as I probably would not be here if I still had it! But after a bike just to do track days on at the moment. Well and for next October ;.)

not exactly true

You can only legally do the legal speed limit on public roads.
What you can actually do is something else entirely. And people do, every day, all over the country.

If you think you're getting used to it then try driving a gutless car for a few days and then get back in the Zed, you'll soon appreciate it again.

I did this with a 1.8 Insignia (which was a lovely car even if it was slow) and when I got back in the Zed I was overjoyed!

God if I had to pay that for insurance I would just rent as I need it LOL (my insurance is $890.00 Canadian (£551.00), I say he should move to Canada, perhaps he is paying for supporting the Queen's car fleet too :)

well...

Im not winding anybody up.

And (in MY opinion) the Z4 is not massively fast in the 3 litre guise. The cars not in limp mode and its running fine, just doesnt set the world on fire, guess i just expected too much from it.

I have an R1 already so thanks for the shouts to get a motorbike! :P

Realisticlly what are the running cost differences after the original outlay of the purchase. I mean is the Z4m really that much worse on the MPG front?

Was going to test ride one today but my mate didnt want to hang about! will get an insurance quote me thinks!

Erm quite a few things. I dont mean to come in here and piss on peoples chips, it wasnt a personal dig at peoples car choices.

Im planning a few more trips to the nurburgring again next year and wanted the best car for the job :)

Im just asking for some advice to either make it quicker/upgrade to a //M. I did look at supercharger kits but for the price i might aswell sell and get a Z4m.
