New member / poster looking for a coupe after educating myself as much as possible over the last couple of months. Been browsing the usual places, keeping an eye on the market and browsing the forums.

As per the majority of the wanted ads it seems, i'm looking for the following:
Must be to be a manual and sport specification.
Maximum mileage up to 75k with specialist / main dealer history.
Not a fan of silver or grey, although could be tempted if my 'perfect' car.
'Tasteful' mods like CSL's exhaust OK, but would prefer as close to a factory as possible.

3.0si is my preference, with a budget of up to £12,000
Could be tempted by a 'bottom of market' Z4M up to around £20,000
Will travel nationwide for the right car.

Thanks for looking and anyone who takes the time to reply. Hopefully wont be too long before I get to own a coupe.

Welcome to the forum by the way!

I can see why you want a Coupe as I'm on my second 3 litre E86! It was the styling that first stood out, but as soon as I drove one I knew I had to get one!

Much as I was initially tempted by the alternative of an MC because of that unique engine, once I'd driven a 3.0Si I knew it also had a pretty special engine - and would cost so much less not only to buy but also to maintain! I can understand people wanting the ultimate, but I just couldn't justify the cost. :(

I see you've already found the classifieds - I really like Status' one, but there is another that I think meets your requirements:- https://z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=103976

I know you've specified a Sport model, but I would consider an SE so long as it had the M-Sport seats and quite a few do seem to have them.

Anyway good luck with your search, and don't forget the photos once you've found one! :)

Not my car, but looks like a bargain. Unfortunately it doesn't tick enough of my boxes

Thanks for the link.

Definitely on the list especially at the reduced price. Will be doing a ring around as soon as I have a list of contenders.

Thanks for the welcome & message.

I will more than likely end up with a 3.0si over the M. Looking at whats on the market, the SE doesn't really interest me as i would prefer as good a nick, low miles car as possible. Not looking for something 'cheap' or mega miles just so i can get one on the drive.
Mind you, I was in this position a few years ago with a 996 Carrera 4s or a turbo.....ended up with a turbo of course once i'd applied the man maths! Sold that to fund a house purchase around 12 months ago, but the coffers are replenished a bit so on the hunt for a coupe.

The coupe is an itch that needs scratching. I've always wanted one and will be my 'weekend' car, so only doing a few thousand miles a year. If I can get a good example, keep it maintained and sell it for my initial purchase price once i'm done, i'll be happy enough.

Only problem is the lack of coupes on the market. Pretty sure it won' be too long before i get one.

Pics will definitely go up when I do get one of course.

There are never that many for sale at any given time.

One of the forum members has put together a database of 3.0Si and M models. This won't work as a link, but if you copy and paste into your browser it should take you to the right place:-
http://perso.numericable.fr/tonyz4c/production.html

From that it seems only 1596 manual 3.0Si Sport Coupes came to the UK, and about 500 were grey/silver!

Given that even the youngest are 9 years old I wouldn't be surprised if half of them have done more miles than you want, so you're looking for 1 out of maybe 500 or so in existence!

So you're not likely to have too many to choose from - but if you aren't in a rush I'm sure the right one will turn up.

Good luck anyway.

It took me over a year to find the right car with the miles and spec I wanted.
Patience is the key.
The right car will turn up.

Well aware of this car but just too many miles and work needed. Thanks for the link though.

I see you prefer not to have silver or grey - my coupe is Space Grey and i think it looks stunning (obviously i'm biased!!), especially with the sun on it...so do look at one before discounting on colour...

Self plug - but still for sale if you can stretch your budget!

I do actually quite like the grey and only really said that as I've had a seal grey Porsche for a few years...i just fancied a change really.!

That makes perfect sense - I didn't want silver because I'd had a silver 123d for over 6 years and wanted something different. :)

Definitely over what I'm comfortable paying for one at the moment. Not saying it's not worth the money, it's a lovely car with low miles. I need something that I can drive and not worry about it too much and if I had something of that value I wouldn't drive it properly or as often. If you get my point of view!

Again, not mine but this popped up yesterday afternoon - https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201803094408217?radius=1500&year-to=2009&transmission=Manual&model=Z4&minimum-badge-engine-size=3.0&make=BMW&postcode=ne209hw&maximum-mileage=70000&year-from=2006&advertising-location=at_cars&sort=price-asc&onesearchad=Used&onesearchad=Nearly%20New&onesearchad=New&page=2#

That's a fine looking example , shame it has a spec to match the miles

Seller has covered virtually everything that came as standard barring carpets :D & missed off cruise + cup holders

Had noticed this one a few days ago, but until today, the pics were not on the web-site or autotrader. Sent an e-mail to the dealer yesterday and they sent me the pics.
What do you mean about the spec? 'Shame it has a spec to match the miles'. Does this mean it is good or poverty spec? Not bothered about cruise. Sounds OK to me.
Can someone also confirm that the service history is as expected? Looks like its a bit 'bare' for the car. Am I right in saying that there is officially 2 year service intervals? Even with that it looks a bit poor / minimal. Do most owners get them officially serviced and stamped every 2 years, and oils, filters service every year to keep everything sweet? Is this the norm?
Thanks

I am aware of your car, but unfortunately has probably the only interior I wouldn't be OK with.

Thanks for the link and good luck with the sale. I'm sure it wont be long until it sells with spring and summer around the corner.

That looks like a great way into an ultra low mile Z4C, but Andy’s point is that it is fairly basic in spec - no heated seats or Xenons for example.

The servicing is also a bit light for it’s age as it should have seen an oil service every 2 years regardless of miles. I wouldn’t let that alone put you off going to see it though.
