Z4 3.0 Coupe market watch

Ha ha I missed that...to be fair it’s got a chequered mot history too...but I do know the advisories on the latest mot have been addressed inc new bottom arm ..it has just had a service inc plugs but is a gap in history in the book but some reciepts for service materials present so presumably someone self serviced...I’m not too precious, it looks in my opinion really nice in and out and it’s a fairly old machine I only hope the majors are ok .....like the cup holders

I have actually goofed up as I rushed with viewing and despite questions on the lights and my doubt they were xenons as I thought they were dim and didn’t self level the seller did say they do self level on start up....it was sunnny and time was short but basically I can’t have one with no xenons as they are dire with halogen....I totally forgot the height adjustment
On the control panel....so I’ll be losing some money

So now you'll sell the car and buy another?

An easy way to check is the single or twin scroll wheel on the headlight switch.

The car looks really nice .
I wouldn't get too twitched over halogen / xenon with the E85/E86 , get the height adjustment right + a decent bulb & halogen unit will match the woeful xenon light  they really are very poor .
Unde the bonnet over each light unit will be a yellow warning sticker if they are xenon

As mr wilks has said don’t worry too much about the lights. My current Si was fitted with aftermarket bulbs etc by the previous owner and are much brighter and crisper than the standard halogen and xenon. Feel free to come and look

Literally want something to go out have a coffee listen music etc
Just be aware the standard 6 speaker set up is pretty weak. The 10 speaker “Hi Fi Professional” (look for the big speaker grilles behind the seat backs instead of the cubbies) is better. There is also a 10 speaker ”Top Hi Fi” system with Carver DSP amp which some members say is very good. Either way, if you have the basic system and you like listening to music, you will probably want to upgrade it and there are a couple of complete 10 speaker systems kicking around at the moment.

thank you but they have the height adjustment on the dash ...I just remember my first z was non xenon and I struggle in the dark so good lights are really important and the last z had xenon and they were much better

to be honest I’m ok with music at a low setting so that’s not such a big deal as the lights

cheers lynchey I’m a bit peeved, I rushed down to view as the car had sold a few days earlier a deposit was left but then the person who left a deposit apparently had a work van issue so backed out so the seller contacted me as I had been speaking to him regards a viewing et etc ....classic example of rushing and chancing it....I missed the lights didn’t study mot history which is not the best to be honest...to be fair at this price I want xenon when I said these are not xenon they don’t self level he said they do when you start the car the lights go up and down so I thought ok maybe they are....but forgot about the scroller on the dashboard

We’ve all done it, we are so excited about the prospect of buying a car that we miss things and forget about things to ask about. Try not to beat yourself up about it as there are alternatives to solve the light issue.

As others have said, a change of bulb on the halogen makes a night and day difference…. :tumbleweed:

Ok, ….doesn’t turn night into day, but makes the lights very effective at night

If you only have a deposit on it maybe walk away, maybe the guy with the van found a potential issue with it as well.

Personally i thought the Xenon's were actually pretty good on the Z4 and its would be high up on my want list too.

There will be other cars for sale that's for sure.

You will always have a niggle at the back of your mind if you made the right decision or not. Go with your Gut :)

. Appreciate that mate, i also thought xenon on my last coupe were good, I need good night lights on a car it’s simple as that...my gut feeling last night was to back off as the mot history is not great, service history is half great but possibly self serviced....condition of the car is very good and it sounds sweet from cold etc but gut feeling was walk away....today not sure, these are old bmw’s But good one’s don’t cost the earth to run but I don’t want a lemon either

I guess the question is, do you have that. “I’ve made a mistake…” knot in the stomach feeling? We’ve all been there.

How much of a deposit have you put down and can you walk away (rhetorical)

I had a pre-facelift E85 with an LED headLight kit and the lights were excellent, not sure how much going this route costs though.

£250 but the car is £7500

Not too much to loose then in the grand scheme of things. Only you can really decide what's best I guess. They are reliable thigs but costs can add up these days of you buy one which needs a few things doing. Quite a few have been run on a shoestring unfortunately and are due fair big bits of work.
