I think there are several things coming into play here but I do think that good cars are selling.
I bought my car at the end of February having been looking at the market for around 6 months. There were three cars that I was considering and I viewed two and bought the second one that I went to see.
Most of the cars that seem to hang around are there for a reason and there was one that I fancied where I didn't even get a reply when calling or emailing and that is still listed. Perhaps it sold and the owner hasn't ended the add.
Recently there was a white and a yellow car that seemed to sell within days of being up for sale, or at least the adds were taken down.
My E86 has red leather, heated seats and xenons. All of these were high on my list so along with it being Silver Grey and having original 224 M wheels made it the one for me.

Yeah xenon's and Hifi Upgrade are high on my list to be fair.
There are a lot of high mileage cars priced far too keenly IMO, the lower mileage cars priced well seem to sell.
I am after a higher mileage one to be honest as I do quite a few miles a year so would kill the value of a low miler.
There is plenty of coupes for sale though which aren't selling.

I know the online valuations are not to be taken too seriously but the coupes I have checked out have fell off a cliff value wise lately, I’m talking from £8.5k not long back for some down to £5.5k - £5k now, car I have just sold dropped fairly rapidly too fortunately it’s getting collected tomorrow but I have still chucked money away in short period and it was quite concerning just how quickly it dropped I was wondering where the hell it was heading ...fortunately vans are softening too as I might need one soon.

just online usual WBAC type places, basically just tap in the reg of cars for sale, cars that are up at £8k+ are showing at £5k-£5.5k ...my Mrs TTS is showing at £5.5k which I thought would £8k it’s a lovely car, my car I sold yesterday as I mentioned dropped like a stone it just seems like stuff is dropping in price, ok obviously we get more selling private but there is a pattern and compared to prices a while back it’s a big change from what I see.curvature said:

Car forecourts that had scant pickings through most of last year are now brimming with choice & certainly the ones i pass regularly i'm seeing the same cars now that were there 3 months ago .
I've been looking for an X3 since the summer last year and they do seem to have dropped slightly in price but that might just be because they are now a bit older. However the good ones with a decent spec seem to sell quite quickly.
As for the dealers stocks increasing I haven't seen that at all. The two BMW dealerships near me have very few used cars and are spreading them out both inside and outside to make the stock levels look greater.

As far as the market goes, I bought an absolute mint condition 2007 model (besides wheels needing refurb on the inner barrels) with just 28k on the clock. The bodywork is like a new car and it drives like you'd expect - like a sweetie.
We definitely paid for the privilege of obtaining what is probably one of the best stock, low mileage examples in the UK but then you only live once, and this was one of those cars I always wanted.
