Z3 project...no going back now!

Little update. All exterior 'bling' fitted and levelled. Headlight covers fitted, which took an age.
All lights fitted, wired and tested. I did buy some decent H4 headlight bulbs (Philips racing vision GT200) as the originals were terrible. Then I realised I have wired them up wrong, so the voltage was going 'in reverse' which was the reason they were so crap. New ones are much better, though, especially as they are now wired correctly.

Wipers fitted and tested. Door mirrors have been re-mounted (for the third time) so they are now of some use. The stainless bonnet vent surround has been adjusted and now fits. Boot lock assembly has been trial fitted and tested. Bonnet catch works. Exterior door handles and mechanisms have been fitted and tested.

Bootlid and bonnet rubber 'stops' are installed and have been adjusted to fit.

I have trial fitted all four wire wheels with the hub adapters. These fit and the fronts now clear the brake calipers.

Apart from paint prepping and spraying, the exterior is finished.

Going to start on the interior now.

The whole interior, including instruments, are to be changed. I have them all, just got to fit and wire them. My odometer has been programmed to show the original mileage of the car (54k), so there will none of the usual "it's showing 300 miles on the speedo" nonsense.

No idea about insurance as yet, but it will probably be expensive. It will have to be with a 'specialist' broker/ insurance company, which usually means expense.
It is going to be re-registered with the DVLA, so will be MOTed as that. Problem is the first MOT it will still be a Z3 on the MOT database, as the DVLA system doesn't update that. Depending on the MOT tester, may need to have a short conversation when it's booked. Won't be for a while yet.

Finally got back to the car, as I've been suffering from the car-building equivalent of 'writer's block' for a while.
Door cards sorted and ready for upholstering. Window winders are 'fake', as they are attached to on-off-on switches which have been rewired to the windows' wiring.

Congrats on getting back into it ! Are you saying that the windows go up/dowm from pressing/lifting the winder handles? If so that is sick

Yes the windows raise on lifting the handles and lower by pushing them down.
Will need to tell any passengers how they work, or they could snap the switches off!
No one-shot anymore, though. Still....you can't have everything (where would you put it all). :lol:
