I need to speak to you, young man, about perhaps changing the springs, shocks and bump stops etc in the near future. I need to put lowering springs on it but can't do it yet, as it's difficult enough getting to the underside as it is! :(

Would be a pleasure

Drop me a note I’ll get something in the diary

Look forward to a day of putting the world to rights…

Thanks matey.

So.....
Spoke to the paint/ bodyshop today and sent a video of the car as it is, as they are in Wakefield (wherever that is).
Their words were "there's a lot of work to do on it but it's do-able", which is sort of a relief (that it's do-able) but also I know it's going to be expensive (very expensive).
I know they will do a brilliant job, as they have prepped and painted more of these than anyone else, and I have seen the results of their work. They are magicians (which will be needed with my POS). :(

I am going to get a new front grille cowl made, as the one supplied doesn't fit properly and I don't want the surround filled. More expense!

Just rear bumper to trial fit and boot lock assembly before it's ready to be sent to paint for around three months.

A picture with the front bumper on. Most don't have overriders, as they like the clean look, but I think it looks more authentic with them. Yet more expense and a pain to fit, though!

More progress there, and I like the over-riders. From when you could use a bumper as a bumper.

Approximate figure ??

I reckon about £10k. I know my (new 250 cal) mate has just had his prepped and painted by them and he paid £8k. His kit was in far better nick than mine and he is a serial car builder so knows much more about what is right and what's not than me.

It's a lot of money, but it can make the difference between just another bodged 'kit car' and an authentic 'replica'. Which makes the finishd value tens of thousands apart. It needs to be right, aswell, as I have spent a LOT already.

I have also spent hundreds of hours on it so far, and there are hundreds more to go. I don't like working for free.

I envy your get up and go Pondrew and the way your sticking at it. I’m not sure I would be able to. Looking forward to seeing the finished result

Seriously, mate, don't. If I had a pound for every time I wanted to jack it in and set fire to it, I would be very well off.

As I have been inundated with requests on how this thing is going (I haven't really), Here is an update with a couple of pictures of some blingy bits...

Spent the last God-knows-how-long getting the rear bumper to fit properly (it cost enough so should have fitted better IMO) and fitting and making work the boot latch/lock (what a pig that was). All external wiring complete and tested. All lights work as they should, when they should.

Just the front headlight covers and stainless shrouds to shape and fit then we are ready for paint. That is another story; trying to get local bodyshops to come and assess the car and give a price. :headbang: 20241002_192156.jpg20241002_191527.jpg20241002_191636.jpg20241002_192003.jpg20241002_191926.jpg20241002_191556.jpg
