Trust me love sport mode but when i am on a small back road in London and is raining in busy traffic its not fun end up in someones rear bumper.

I used to enjoy the way the windows go up and down at the press of a button...but mine don't do that anymore :(

Ouch... are you fitting it yourself? How much is the part, if you don't mind me asking?

Mine will need doing soon... have a feeling its on its way out.

Yeah, doing it myself. It was a bit tricky to take apart but, once I'd sussed out which nuts to remove and how to seperate the lifter from the glass, it came out quite easily. I had to destroy the foam liner as there's no way to get it off in one piece. Just hope it goes back together OK :?

I've sourced a secondhand replacement at £60 all in...so not too painfull

I might try to do a 'how-to' if anyone would find it useful?

Did you check if the butyl that fastens the the foam liner to the door had an internal string? I believe the idea is that you pull the string and it tears the butyl and removes the liner. Well that's what I did to mine that I had to partially remove.

Oops - I see this thread being hijacked to a window repair project.

Definitely no string in evidence. I ended up cutting the foam as neatly as possible and intend to re-fix with duct tape...should be OK 8)

Hey all I have to say is this thread made it longer than most without a hi-jack....2 pages have to be a record right?

I wish I had the bun warmers, got to drive a 5 series for a week during the winter in Germany, I fell in love with that feature. If someone spots M Heated Sport seats, let me know. Manual seats or auto I don't care, I will sacrifice my electric memory seats for a heated rear.

My favourite feature is the auto-dimming rear view and side mirrors. Very nice when you've got some stupid SUV behind you.

Heated seats are good too, but I do miss the heated steering wheel I had in my 540.....

It's the bun-warmers for me

But better yet - at least in mine (M Seats) the warmers also extend at least half way up the back as well for a complete back warmer. Now just find a bumpy road once they are up to temp and you have the Z4 back massage parlor :D

My old Audis only had warmers at the seat bottom and it didn't extend up the back.

Having had a 330ci, M3 and now a Z4, I am NOT happy that the sun visor lights are not fitted!! :( Other than that, most of the features I am used to. I also miss the glove box torch.

I like the fast roof, and the fact that if you keep your finger on the roof release button, the windows will come back up again on opening AND closing.

Don't forget the heat going to the thigh support too.

AHA!
I knew there was one thing that I was forgetting that just blows me away. This is it. I don't know how in the hell those mirrors do it, but by Giod it is my favorite!

The best feature is the look on my face when I am walking back in a parking lot large enough to see all of it as I approach. To me it is just a beautifully designed car.

Great thread....Hmmm...

All the features and options in the Z, are pretty standard in our other BMW. However, the one thing that I found unique, and that was not present in the other BMW, was the use of the amber ambient lighting aimed downwards and illuminating the center console and gear selector. Driving at night, is sheer pleasure... I really like this design feature... :D

E46 3 and E39 5 have this too...it's been a stock feature on BMs for a while now

the hill assist feature that holds he brakes for a few seconds while you find the biting point with the clutch

Does this apply to all models, including M's?

My guess is this is North American markets only? I don't have that. I think its because so many Americans / Canadians learn in an Auto then jump in a manual (here if you do your test in an Auto, that is all you can drive). So errors are all too easy...another one is in many US spec manuals you have to dip the clutch or the car will not let you start the engine - even if it's not in gear...
