^^ This.. Got my 18i (FINALLY) booked in next friday. Can't wait! it's been torture waiting and having to postpone due to getting some warranty work done that included coding a new window into the car! :thumbsup:
 
So, ignoring the "sell it and buy a six-pot" remarks (for now), remap and just drive seems the way to go! :) I shall do that and simply upgrade the brakes and discs when they next need changing.

Anyone used JFS Tuning in Leeds for their remap? They seem to be the closest to me who offer a custom remap. https://jfs-tuning.co.uk/

I may well buy a 35iS next, but that is only once I have put at least 100K on this beauty....

Ask for them to be 15" long, so they stay in position when the belts aren't in use.

They're excellent quality and the extra length doesn't cost much.

How do these things work though, are they meant to go over your shoulder or down over your stomach? I had a set of Halfrauds ones and they were a real pita, cos I'd have to keep moving them when the belt extended/retracted?
 
This is why you order 15" protectors. That's the distance from the flat, black plastic buckle stop to the point where the belt emerges above your shoulder.

So, when the belt's not on, it & the protector lie flat by the side of the seat.

As you put the belt on, you just hold the protector, the belt runs through it and they both lie across your shoulder.

It's the only way I've found of protecting the Alcantara on the seat and, actually, the protector's comfortable, too. I like it now

So.. apart from feeling a bit odd for quoting myself.. :rofl:
Remap was done at Ecotune (https://ecotune-scotland.co.uk/) in Glasgow on Friday.
HOLY CRAP! DO IT!

Seriously, the car has been transformed. This is how they all should come from the factory :evil:
First run on the rollers showed the standard car was putting out 174.1hp (book figure is about 155). So good start.
Final run showed bang on 269hp and 263ft-lbs torque. They also increased the rev range by 300rpm.
Not the highest figure ever out here for a map, but I'm more than happy with it. even gained about 2.5 mpg on the motorway journey home sticking to the same speeds as I did on the way there as an experiment..
So now... lots of :driving: and :D :D :D

Starting off with the remap is a great way to go!

I’ve spent a fair bit now and could talk for ages about where to throw money but it all comes down to what you want to improve! Don’t change something if you like the way it is!
 
Probably continue the BMW Warranty in all seriousness :P . Apart from that a bloody good clean and maybe find a cup holder solution!
