Get an s type r, supercharger whine, v8 400bhp and can be had for 4k. Was my last csr and I miss the sound :(

Don't tell this lot :D

Seriously don't ffs

s**t cars, don't listen. Nothing to see here....

How about an old jensen 7.2 ltr job. I'm sure MM could do you a set of straight through pipes

I think a lot of the early Astons had ford switch gear that was out of Mondeo's etc.. :(

Does it matter? So does the s type r mentioned above. Put your foot down and you'll never have that thought again...

yes it does matter... I had a XKR for a while, lovely big supercharged V8...

lovely rover paint from the 80s...lovely cheap ford parts that were horrible...lovely stupid engineering that uses plastic tensioners in the engine...

Granted the newer ones seem a bit better, but it would never go back to them, they cut every corner known to man.

From your list OP, I would go with the Massa..... a bit rarer than the rest, and a lovely car.

Running V8s isn't really that expensive... I've had at least 1 on the go for the past 16 years, and at the moment have 2 - one as my daily and one as my long range car...

the daily is 14mpg and costs £5.77 a mile to run. (I have recently done a bit of work to this, hence the higher costs... but it does have 864 nm of torque to deal with)

the long range one gets nearly 23mpg and costs £0.67p per mile. (standard car, just looked after as it's meant to be)

they are both big saloons though, so not what you're after....

Maserati 3200 with boomerang rear lights.

If you're lucky you'll find a very low miler and also walk away with change from the proceeds of your Zed.

Lots to choose from. This ones up at £15k and I am constantly being severely tempted by their looks and V8 sirens call!

Your Zed will be as quick as, probably quicker, than the Maser Gransport and V8V. Not sure if that matters or not?

That's one of the big problems. Not much out there that will be quicker than an M without spending serious money. Slower car with a better noise? Hmm, no thanks.

The noise is a big deal to some though Ad. If it wasn't, BMW wouldn't pump artificial sound into the latest models through the stereo.

Not as quick???? Guess it depends on the usage of said car....

Most real life situations you wouldn't notice any difference (imo)... maybe on that one rare Sunday, when its bright, dry, empty road, no camares, no animals, no police, you're paying full attention, got the right gearing and right revs... then... yeah maybe...

I love the big V8 rumble as I'm sitting in traffic, pulling way, engine braking...as well as on the move.... in fact, the lack of decent noise is what made me give up the Zed so easily...

At the risk of being shot down... XKR, 2006 or later, coupe or convertible...
Done that, can highly recommend the coupe, looks much better than a soft top. The R looks amazing from all angles. :)

Go for it! Just remember it's not buying... It's owning and looking after!
I second this as I adore V8`s  I have loved owning three V8`s now...but I was always fine buying them but it was running them that seemed to cause me a few problems! & the running costs do add up but if you have a good kitty behind you then you should be fine.

Had my Griff for 11 years, 30,000 miles and home serviced. Never let me down. Driven it in every weather, rain, snow, shine! A good RV8 will last if looked after and the AJPV8 is pretty bullet proof. The 4.5 RR Cerbera is brutal!
I had my 4.5 Cerbera for just over 6 years & loved it to bits & I still haven't fully recovered from selling it as that's how much I loved it, but I was told the AJPV8 was bullet proof by everyone I met in TVR land but that didn't stop mine letting go & giving me a £11k bill in the end...it broke my heart & my bank balance & I only used mine as a second car I could have never trusted it as a daily that's for sure.

Mine was a one owner car with only 12k miles on it when I purchased it so I think its the look of the draw, pleased your Griff treated you well  if I had my time again I would have gone with a RV8 car as my first TVR as its a far more proven engine & has slightly more manageable running costs & they sound the dogs! :driving:

Wow, what happened?

I remember clutches were an issue for a while on the Cerbies, and there S6s have had a whole raft of problems. Sadly I still don't have the confidence to buy a S6 engined car.

My TVR's have been more reliable than all my other cars (touch wood on the Z). The Griff is knocking on 21 and still started after 4 months of not running (with a new battery) and only ever failed and MOT on HIDs.

On the switch gear front the only point I was making was that, that is why some people dislike the AMV8's interior. Personally I quite like it, but them outside is awesome.

The oil relief spring snapped causing the engine needing a full rebuild a new cylinder head & a new crank plus while the engine was out the clutch was replaced plus a few little bits sorted for the mot & I was without the car for 9 months in total & the final bill came to £11k which put my mrs off the car after that as you can imagine!

I still kept the car for another 3 years but I always felt that it had cost me far more to run than it should have but even so I still miss it loads.
