If you’re experiencing degradation of your headlights it’s probably more to do with the condition of the external plastic lens more than the bulb.
Polishing them will make a world of difference as it has done in my case. (Still on original bulbs from 2003)
Edit: some photos would be handy for judgement before you go shelling out 100 quid per bulb...?
Even if your bulbs are good, there are plenty of upgrades with better parameters available. I personally just bought a set of Osram Xenarc Night Breaker Lasers, I had a very good experience with them in my previous car.

They didn't have the 4500k ones in stock, so I went for the 6500k instead - the light is definitely much more white than blue, so don't send me that "Chavtastic" badge just yet....
