Does anyone else get this - obviously lesser powered cars pushing for a race?

I wish I was mature enough to let them pass, but today took the Z out of the garage / Autumn slumber and within 5 mins had a Smart (the car brand) coupe inches from my bumper.

Suffice to say he was a distant blur within seconds. Just wish I had the will power not to do that but so tempting..

I wonder if some drivers dont realise how much power's in the Z, or think theirs is more powerful than it is.

Never have that problem driving the Golf!

All the time. I normally give them a head start just so they think they've got a chance... Poor little boys

I had an Audi R8 up my chuff at the 'Ring on Monday.

I let him past once it was safe to do so (as I was already overtaking some other traffic), and then proceeded to stay with him for the rest of the lap.

At the end of the lap (after the gantry), he slowed down, wound his window down, shook his head and then gave me a thumbs up.

It was my biggest smile of the weekend :D

Can't say I ever get raced, in any of my cars... Perhaps it's because I'm always driving quite slowly? I have to admit, I'm not that fast of a driver, so I guess that's why people leave me alone most of the time.

Funnily enough, I had a Golf GTI try it on at a set of lights on a roundabout in Hatfield today - he went to cut into the outside lane in front of me as we came off the exit and round a corner, only to find my stubby giving him the finger

I regularly get the East Side Saxo Crew revving up for a race.....

Quite often I ignore.... other times I let 'em have it

I also get Audi's driving like tw@s when i'm out on me Ducati, i hate Audi drivers  but if i ever see a Ferrari out on the road with some old fart driving, there fair game!!1 :D

I think a lot of them are not after a race, I just think they want to see our cars accelerate away and see how quickly our cars can go

Hate ? that's quite a strong term - and also smacks a little of pigeon holing rather a lot of people - how about someone who drives both a Z4 and an Audi ? is that not the attitude that historically get's some (non Z4) BMW drivers the image they sometimes deserve - like describing lane 3 of a motorway as "the BMW lane"

Not being a Ferrari driver - but I do rather wonder just what you mean by "old fart" - there may well be a few Z4 drivers fitting your criteria and regular highly regarded contributors on here.

I love it when you're on a sportsbike and someone in a car thinks that their car is quick. (snigger).
:P
I've sat at the lights next to Porsches/Caterhams etc (and ahem M Roadsters) where the owners are under some god-like illusion of quickness.

I never feel the need to race anything in my car anymore. I just smile and let them have their brief moment of glory. But on a bike, they just need to be taught! :D :D

I notice the bikers just shoot off on the straights and then hold me up around the corners :poke:

Especially if last weekend at the 'Ring was anything to go by, where only one bike overtook me in 40 (very warm & dry) laps

What he ^ said! ...but minus the Nurburgring bit..

I dont give chase to bikers now though after a chat with a mate who has one, he explained to me that it makes them very nervous to have a car right up their bottom and if something goes wrong they may very well get run over which to be perfectly honest is something that I had never thought of before.

As for the traffic light GP, i think gookah has it right, most dont really think they'll "win" they just wan't to have a play. I mean i do the same if i encounter a Ferrari for example, i know i'm not going to win i just want to see it driven in anger and hear its bellow... but all the Ferrari driver sees is a cocky BMW owner who thinks he can overtake anyone. Oh well. :|

I just never come up right behind someone, unless I've poorly planned, or they've pulled out oddly. You can scare even the most experienced driver by coming right up behind them.
