Since moving to Somerset I’ve enjoyed the different pace of life here, I’ve also enjoyed being a parish councillor for the last couple of years.
Terms are normally 4 years but seeing as i was co-opted halfway through a full term its time to sign up again. I originally just registered an interest with helping to put up the village marquee but was press ganged into full immersion after a night at the pub :P

It always starts with "helping to put up the village marquee" don't it?
But, what the hell, I'd probably say yes.

I know three of our parish councillors.
John, his dad (John) and his dad's dad (also John). John the third is 85, the other two bought the harp farm long ago but still seem to get nominated and sit on the committee :?
:D

Don't do it Roberto, politics is the road to ruin.

I have one more meeting to go before retiring and stepping down after 20 years. The last 10 years as chairman. Think Vicar of Dibley. But I have really enjoyed it.😀😀😀

Does that then afford you 'freedom of the village'? With the right to graze your goatee on anyone's land?

I'm just too funny

What is it they say about ‘ a man who blows his own trumpet seldom playing in a good orchestra’.😉
I only had the job because no-one else was daft enough to do it. As for ‘grazing on other people’s land’. I have tried that but the husbands get a bit upset!😇😇😇

Nice one Ian.

So it seems I have actually met 2, even if I've never met one anywhere I have lived.
