Would you buy this 35i?

I think its priced well ,running to cry over the depreciation of mine

Ideally of you can get I drive it would be good , mine hasnt got it and wish Id held out for one with it

JMO of course but , it's doesn't seem to have a few things I'd want for that money, at that mileage and personally I would want DCT , as it works faster than you can think . As for other options , does it have adaptive suspension , advanced hifi or pro hifi ,it appears to have auto lights and wipers , wind deflector , which is good as is the red leather ( not my personal taste ,but desirable for some ) and is it still on runflats ? Some will not like the 18 inchers but I personally like the extra ride comfort you get with them and also they aren't so prone to cracking like 19 inchers .

I think it's pretty good for the money and the spec is fine if it's got what you need. DCT is great (and an option I'd like) but I wouldn't want the bill if it goes wrong so if you don't mind manual then thats good. There is another car on AT with DCT that is boasting a new gearbox this year at a £5k cost :o Its probably rare that the box fails but still..... The same with adaptive suspension, these things are great when the car is new but 7 years down the line, theyre just something else to go wrong. The black and red is a popular combo so to answer your question, if it ticked my boxes I would certainly be interested at that sort of price

Thanks for the inputs guys. Plus points for me are:

Sport seats
Sat nav
PDC
Cruise

I wasnt sure if having the sat nav gave it idrive by default? Perhaps someone on here can confirm. Would be nice to know what speaker package was fitted.

I also saw the one with the £5k dct gearbox replacement which i must admit did worry me a tad.

Its got all the options I'd need and the sports seats are a big plus as there are plenty without them. If it wasn't for my wife being keen on an auto I wouldn't bother with the DCT as it takes away some of the enjoyment of the car for me. Maybe I'd feel differently if it was an everyday drive though. Good luck with what ever you do

Not a bad deal at all .... as long as there is nothing wrong with the car !!

As mentioned before I would ask if it is still on the RFT and the sound system as the basic 6 speakers system is SH*T !

As for the DCT each to their own! personally I have tested both before buying and went for manual. The DCT has its own pleasure sometimes especially when racing, the down side of the DCT imho is that it is always the same symphony compared to the manual where you can make it play your own tunes  ... Again it is only my own opinion.

I test drove this car around 3 years ago, reason I didn't buy it was the owner thrashed the living crap out of it from cold, I guess he thought it would impress a buyer ragging it, and did he drive it like that most of the time? That and the engine bay was filthy and it had a deep scuff and split on the front bumper. Now having said that it doesn't mean it's not a good car, and by my own admission I'm stupidly picky, but I just thought I ought to mention it. For the money it's a tempting buy, and quite rare with the spec it has, but ragging from cold is not good for the turbo impeller shaft bearings and seals. Has it had new seals? Check the invoices if there are any. Just be careful and thorough if you do go and view it.

Best of luck.

No end of numptys treat their cars like this  its precisely why i would always prefer a private sale
Turn up , ask your questions & before the testdrive has even taken place you can usually spot the chump , , cold ragging a twin turbo 3.0 is only going to end up one way & who would want the bill for that :o

I'd be put off by that revelation. :o You never know for sure how a cars been treated by previous owners but clean engine bay, unkerbed clean wheels, tidy brakes, unmolested interior are signposts to a well looked after car. At 64k the car looks ok but knowing someone has revved the nuts off it would worry me and personally I'd be happier to pay a couple of grand more for the right car.

I don't want to hi jack this thread at all but just as a reference I just bought a 35i ( collecting tomorrow ) which I paid the exact same amount for , granted it's silver with black leather but I prefer that for my taste but it's has half the miles, comes with a warranty and as people have pointed out it's bpobviiously been well looked after and comes with the following

The other thing as well is it apparently went to a guy who was just wanting a cheap..(for him) ..stop gap for 6 months while he waited for his new 458 to be delivered. How true that is I don't know, but if it is, is a guy who drives a fezza going to be bothered about a peanuts stop gap car, I doubt it, I bet he ragged the chuff out of it.

When I went to view my current car the seller kept on telling subconsciously to "be careful" with things !!! He wouldn't let me shut the doors subconsciously, and he politely stopped me from moving the hardtop shelve in the boot and showed me. Obviously he kept on apologising and explaining himself, I just smiled at him and told him that is the reason I want your car ;)

My golden rule is not to buy from someone who talk too much to say nothing even if I like the car !!! this just me !!!

I would be very careful of cars with MANUAL RED LEATHER SPORT SEATS though :poke: :poke: :poke:

When I read the first post and opened the link I thought YES, BECAUSE it doesn't have DCT (which is why I wouldn't want any 35iS) and I do like the idea of red leather seats!

But then as I read the rest of the thread I went off it a bit!

Still to someone who doesn't know its history it doesn't look that dear for what it is - I didn't realise E89s had dropped quite so much.

BTW Dietcokeman it sounds like you got a great deal.

I'd go for it. 35i with manual is rare.
And then tune it like crazy (n54 engine is fairly easy with tuning). The manual is much easier to tune to insane numbers than the DCT for sure (no dct slippeage).
Manual transmission is also quite a bit lighter.

First thing that caught my eye was the exhaust trim.
Doesn't look clean.
I think anyone loving there car would keep them clean.
Shows it was cared for.

I noted this too and had the exact same thought. see the car in person is the best way as you also have to "buy the seller " in my opinion. As Ben pointed out earlier in the thread you get a feeling for the seller and how they have treated the car. Normally if they are fussy with it then they bought it new or from another fussy person etc etc . Its always a balancing act trading condition against the preferred spec, but id rather have condition and compromise on spec if i have too. JMO obviously .

Well I know i was one of the first to comment on this threadbut my answer was based on what i have seem looking for one since May., had to wait for the right car, but now i've found one it appears that i might have done ok with the price , considering the spec and mileage, and the old owner is super fussy too. :D

Picture of passenger seat but not driver's seat. Driver's side seat belt covering part of seat so quite possible driver's side seat worn. Also no mats seem to be present. Centre console is marked steering wheel appears worn. Marks on drive'rs door card. Could just be poor quality pictures. Or I am just picky.

Thanks for all the replies guys. Shows the power of this forum when members actually recognise the car and have in fact viewed it in the past.

I think on balance it's not the right car. It doesn't sound like it's had a very pampered life to me, and you rightly point out all the tell tale indicators of that.

Some questions I still don't think I've found the answer to:

1) Does having sat nav mean you get idrive by default?
2) Does having cruise mean you get cruise with auto brake by default? I assume this is the same as adaptive cruise essentially?
