Worth more than gold

Well I took the plunge and ordered a set of index 12 injectors for my 35i from MLperformance.
Like my title says, I'm sure these are worth more than gold, the world's gone mad with its prices.

Is this a pre-emptive change or have you been experiencing issues? :?

Car has had a rough cold start idle for a year or more now and it's showing up again now the weather has turned cold. You can just feel a slight lumpiness when cold started but that goes after just a few mins stood on drive. If I drive it straight away then you can feel it for about 1/4 of a mile then its fine. This will not get any better on its own so thought seeing as though I'm keeping the car I may as well take out a mortgage and buy the injectors, Cheapest I could get them for was £228 each

Ouch.

And I thought M parts were expensive! I hope you have a safe to keep them in.

I said the very same thing the the inlaw when I picked them up from their house and said these are going in the safe lol. It's only a year to 18months ago when these was about half this price, double ouch.
plus new decoupler clips and I bought an n54 injector puller for £48 just incase they take some pulling out so I'm now in for around £1480

My injectors came out very easily….one showed significant seal deterioration…car wasn’t running obviously rough so will be difficult to determine any obvious improvement.

Walnut blast had a marked effect on idle smoothness.

Your cold start is emblematic of a failing injector.

What makes them so expensive now? (compared to last year)

There was a BMW warranty driven discounted price on replacements…that offer has expired

Yes I had mine walnut blasted a two or three months ago just in case it was that, at least that's been done now, fingers crossed the new injectors will sort it now, car deserves a bit more pampering anyway lol

You can never give a car too much love

Would be interesting to average out the fleet's failures versus collective costs of warranties? One thought that had struck me was that on the 35i most of the failures don't stop the car going, just become increasingly more inconvenient. On the N20 powered ones, if the one gremlin, the cam chain goes then its good night Vienna!

If that's the Precision Raceworks injector puller then it's well worth the £50. I purchased one of those and it makes the entire job much easier, it comes with a little shim to help you slide new seals onto the injectors if needed and also has 3 holes in the body of the tool that allow you to compress the seal before inserting it into the engine. New injectors come with the seal pre installed so you probably won't need that part but it's good for future if you ever have to take them out again.

You're right there. Some dealers are better than others regarding pre-emptive work but I'd never be happy waiting for a component to fail and leave me stranded before getting it fixed.

I just replaced the fuel pump in the tank of my 335i. It was working completely fine but I could see it struggling to keep up at full power so I knew its days were numbered. Warranty would have only touched that once the car started throwing errors.

The BMW Insured Warranty renewal for my 35iS arrived this morning. £339. :)

That’s the difference!
The assist was a very important part of the package for me.
Yes. If I didn't have a joint AA membership with my wife, I'd certainly have taken the BMW Assist option with the insured warranty, which, for me, would have been better.
