World Cup I love it!!

Holland were easily the better side...just unlucky but they should have won earlier, but lots of mistakes and goal line clearance and hitting the woodwork....

Me too Lee - Davie was the Manager that just kept on giving . van Gaal is shrewd but the longer he is in the World Cup the less time he has to prepare Utds overhaul.

Very careful with my NL there PVR - I've had the speech of some good friends

No Holland from me - did you eat Bitterballen ?

Netherlands, Holland, Dutch.
I would really love a proper explanation of correctness!
(We visit friends in Arhnem this summer and I don't want to inadvertently offend )

For me it's simple I think

Netherlands equals UK
Holland equals Yorkshire
Dutch equals British

No doubt PVR will correct me if I'm wrong - although the cheap tee shirts at Schipol have Holland printed on them I don't think the actual KNVB Royal Dutch Football Association have ever called themselves Holland.

0-0 against Costa Rica and he is a football genius :idunno:

Glad NL are through

Didn't see anyone say he was a genius. You probably don't understand football coming from Scotland :poke:
The Dutch could have won 6-0 if the costa keeper didn't play a blinder, they didn't hit the woodwork twice, and they finished the two easiest chances.....and all that with Costa playing a 10 man defensive set up!?

I'm actually English , and can only imagine the smiles if I told my Scottish mates that they knew nothing about football .... After our World Cup  I can tell you Englishmen up here are keeping a very low profile at the moment.

Holland have always been called Holland when they have played in the Euros previously.....please explain that

Stark - We have to humour the simpletons .. :P

ronk - Arnhem is actually a stone throw from where I was born, you have to visit the war graves on the Grebbeberg nearby (last stand of the Dutch army against the Germans and the biggest battle). Arnhem is in Gelderland, a different province to North and South Holland (there are 11 of them) :P

Have to say, I am not a football fan at all ... But holy s**t, are Brazil being torn a new one
