World Cup I love it!!

Thank god for half time.....we could have had a free kick against at the end of the box.....their goal was incredible.....came from a great set piece

The problem is anyone who knows football can see how poor our defence is when you look at them on paper but its just positive that the rest of the midfield and forwards can make things happen.
 
I think Hart has had a great game so far. Great goal line clearance when Hart came out like that to Mario......makes my heart race and quite scary stuff
 
Pleased its made for an entertaining game in many ways because you don't always know what you are going to get with England to be fair.
 
Dreadful show.

Rooney should be sent home, he missed a couple of good chances on goal by a long way.

We were far better than I saw of them in South Africa. A lot of positives to take from tonights game. We lost to a far better Italian side by 1 goal.

Sterling is awesome by the way.

Joe Hart was beaten 4 times, (2 actual goals, a header off the line and a free kick at which he was a spectator) How many times did we trouble or beat their keeper with shots on target? Once ! Therefore we could have easily lost 4-1.

We always "Take positives" from every game, but since Shearer &Co (?) put 5 past Germany back in the late 90s (?) when was the last time we actually went out and convincingly dominated a decent, ranked European side ???

England 5 - 1 Germany was in 2001 and Shearer didn't play but you nearly got it right :wink:
 
Remember it well: 5-1 and even Heskey scored :)

I thought last nights game was a good one - midfield did well, forward line is looking good. Defence isn't too good - Johnson went missing a lot and Baines was exposed by lack of midfield cover. Rooney didn't play well, but Hodgson looked scared to leave him out.

If England play like that in the next 2 games they should get through.

Thought England had a reasonable game - thought it was gonna end up 2-2 at one point

The Rooney debate will go on and on but that lay on for the England goal was class but unfortunately he displayed little more throughout the rest of the game

To be honest though - both teams were way below the standard in the Spain Netherlands game

No Scotsman commenting on English football pokes please lol
 
Decent performance last night. Full backs are the weakest link in our team and Rooney didn't fancy working hard enough to protect Baines. Quality cross for the goal though.

Finally, blokes that don't like football are ODD.
 
We really weren't that bad,Italy were better,fact.We have to get Rooney sitting behind Sturridge that's where he is most dangerous.We ran out of ideas in the end.
 
Agree with all appraisals of the game above really. Also to say that yes we lost and yes its frustrating but I thought we dominated the game in the second half and got caught out through a mix of counter attacking finesse and lack of ideas upfront on occasion. But we tried, it was great to see a young, vibrant and positive England team.

Slightly embarrasing when Sterling got cramp and the Italians started helping him out! Exciting player though. Oh, and I think Lallana should start the next game too.

But then I'm an Ipswich Town fan so what do I know :x

As usual our expectation never lives up to the reality......we come from one of the biggest football nations and yet our national team isn't able to live up to the hype.

But not a great game but not a bad one either. Shocked at the other group match yesterday which also leaves me worried, Costa Rica is a worry now....

This is what has frustrated me the most I think as there hasn't been any expectation on England for this world cup yet we still cant get a result whereas with other world cups the expectation was really high.

I don't think anyone truthfully thought we would ever get out of this group in the first place though and I think I just got sucked into the excitement when the game started last night and I wanted us to do well...silly me!
 
Worst thing about last night's game was the crappy commentary. Just glad I'm watching the remaining games in Japanese!
